Smells like coffee. Juicy like a berry. Little smokey flavor. Roasted notes, not a lot of vanilla but that’s prolly good

Draft to taster at Paw Paw. Looks good; a slightly translucent dark cola with beige head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells of dark malt and mild vanilla. Tastes like it smells with a medium light-bodied mouthfeel. A touch of bitterness, but not unpleasantly so. Enjoyable, but a full one would be plenty.

Bottle thanks to BO. Deep brown with a beige head. Light malt and mineral aroma. Chocolaty and dry. Not much vanilla.

12 oz bottle my brother brought back for me on a recent trip to Michigan. Pours a dark brown with a two-finger light tan head that leaves plenty of lacing. Aroma of cocoa, caramel, toasted malt, vanilla. Taste is dark chocolate, vanilla, coffee, cocoa, caramel, roasted malt. Quick, dry finish of malt, caramel, and a bit of hop bitterness. Medium bodied, thin texture, moderately high carbonation. Very smooth, well balanced and an easy drinker.

Decent chocolate aroma with hints of of sweetness, nice dark color which you would expect in a porter. Smooth, lighter flavor with a somewhat lighter body and texture for the style. Easy to drink, but I prefer bolder porters.

This poured a darker brown with a beige head. Aroma mainly of vanilla and roast. Flavor was a bit too sweet vanilla sky bar, chocolate and roast. Decent.

Pours a dark brown. Aroma and taste are roasted malts with hints of vanilla and chocolate. Vanilla is nicely balanced and not overpowering.

Tap. Black-brown. Spotted lacing. Slightly smokey nose. Tastes more of burnt malt and a touch of coffee than vanilla.

Pour from a 12oz bottle. Inky dark brew with desnse tan head and excellent head persistence. Aroma of vanilla, chocolate, burnt toast and sweet malt. Taste is sweet malt and burnt grain at the start with just a natural transition to the burnt taste in the finish. Much more vanilla on the nose than flavor. Flavor is burnt / toasted grain taste with light coffee or dark chocolate undertones. Comes close to a light smoke/burnt grain taste. Rich palate and mouthfeel. Jake’s Vanilla Bean Porter. 12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of milk chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, toast, dark bread, herbal, light vanilla, and roasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of dark/roasted malt notes with light vanilla presence; with solid strength. Taste of milk chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, vanilla, toast, dark bread, herbal, and roast/toast earthiness. Minimal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, roast, vanilla, toast, dark bread, light herbal, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Good balance of dark/roasted malt and moderate vanilla flavors with light hop presence; with solid complexity and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very creamy and smooth mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice vanilla porter. Good balance and robustness of dark/roasted malt and moderate vanilla flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.
