650mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out moderately roasted malt, followed by some cocoa and toasted bread. Flavour brings out some bourbon notes, followed by roasted malt, cocoa and toasted bread. Wonderful notes from the barrels, without dominating. Well-balanced. Excellent.

Medium brown. Not much head. The aroma has a nice chocolate and bourbon note. Almost a cherry note. Sticky sweet, soy sauce, and with a great barrel note. Malts are complex. Good, rich flavour. Excellent stuff.

Bottle, 2013 vintage. Pours a near black color, some big brown bubbles fade quickly leaving no head. At first sniff there is a rich sweetness to it… roast, dark chocolate, dark pitted fruit, light smoke, and bourbon. The mouthfeel is a little on the thin side, otherwise it might rival the likes of BCBS in my opinion… so close to being awesome. Still a very well done beer. The rich maltiness and dark chocolate have sort of faded a bit from the nose, but the bourbon barrel is still there and at a quite delicious level. Can’t wait to crack open a fresh bottle.

2012 vintage had at annual Black Friday event. This one smoothes out with age, with the barrel aging accents increasing to add emphasis to the solid RIS body. Heavy on the wood, elements of chocolate and roast grains, with tons of warmth from the ABV. have bottles from 2014 and 2015 to sample at a later date.

Dark beer with a thin brown head. Molasses and bourbon barrel nose. Flavors of vanilla, bourbon, wet oak, burnt caramel, over ripe fruit, and molasses. This is a nice barrel addition to what seems a strong imperial stout.

Bottle - Holy boozy batman, but with a minute mellows a tad to dark chocolate, coconut and bourbon. Jet brown with a decent light brown head. Lots of chocolate, coconut and more boozy bourbon notes. The taste is actually much milder than the nose, thankfully. Sweet and pleasant.

2014 vintage. Dark brown pour with a tan head. The aroma is full of roasted malt, chocolate and oak. The flavor is similar. I get the notes from the aroma plus some barrel aged characteristics including vanilla, maple and oak. Thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

sepia, thin cream ring. Heavy pretzel and grain nose, light cocoa. Ultra sweet front palate, tootsie roll alongside, sticky sugary oat mid palate before sticky finish, light chocolate with tootsie hints.

22oz bottle pours an inky black with some ruby edges and some cloudy white head. Nose is cedary, sprucey, caramel, mild smoke, pepper, brown sugar. Flavor has more vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, cakey, chocolate. Spruce too. Full bodied, sticky finish.
