Joe loves to experiment with barrel aged beers and was lucky enought to score 25 Templeton Red Barrels last June. Addded to these barrels was a red ale which was allowed to pick up some wild fermentaion. The result is a deliciously tart, red ale with hints of Templeton Rye Whiskey and oak. It comes in at about 7% ABV and is a very smooth drinker.

Tap. Clear amber brown pour with a spotty head. Dark fruit, wood, and whiskey in this. Not overly sour. Drinks pretty good.

Bourbon smacks you in the nose like a rolled up newspaper. The pour is a murky dirty brown. Taste follows the nose with heavy Bourbon. It does not disappointed. Seems a little thin in mouth feel. But the only thing I can compare this to is kbs. Overall this is a fantastic beer that I will dearly miss when it is gone.

Draft at Red’s. Poured a lovely murky red brown color with a tan head. Lots of oak with a bit of whiskey in the nose. Reminiscent of the "angel’s share" you smell in a warehouse full of aging bourbon barrels. Medium bodied with mingled delicate sugars and light acidity. Subdued whiskey, vanilla, unripe cherry, and light caramel flavors. Plenty of oak flavor. Not bad stuff.
