Nose is heavy espresso, caramel malt, some brown sugar...huge coffee nose in this one. Tastes of fresh brewed espresso, with a coffee-based bitterness, a bit dry overall, with caramel malt, and some finishing astringency. The last dregs get a tiny bit sweeter, and coffee abounds. This one is unique, but coffee/espresso haters need not apply. kiefdog (1654), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 1, 2009 12oz bottle from Willow Bend Liquors (Tampa, FL). Pours a generally clear dark amber color with a one finger tan head that settles quickly. Aroma is roasted and malty with decidedly coffee and espresso notes, some hints of honey, caramel, nuts and spice. Flavor is overwhelmingly coffee and espresso flavors, so much so it is hard to taste much else. Some notes of chocolate and ripe fruit as well. Generally medium body with a bitter coffee finish. A pleasant aroma of espresso coffee, nuts, and milk chocolate, very pungeant. In mouth, intense coffee and bitter chocolate, burned notes, dry malt. Surprising. Tasted on Jan. 1 2009. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 30, 2009 Yeasty coffee aroma, sweet and grassy too. Dark amber pour with foamy head. Very tasty. A smoky coffee flavor dominates, with tangy and bitter notes. Moderately hopped and robust, but still fresh and light bodied. A really good brew. The best I have had from Peak, and possibly the best coffee brew I have tried. BREWMUSKCLES (1094), New Jersey, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 19, 2009 SURPRISINGLY GOOD this brew has an acid roasted yet strong and authentic expresso flavor that is married with a well balanced and noteworthy amber hop flavor and character. good in body and carbonation it is sudsy and comes on at first just a bit harsh yet smoothes out just enough. alcohol is good and just noticeable yet in the backround just a bit of bubblegum mixed in the finish. impressive and demonstrative and very good for the colder season... of course where it is cold. Poured a lighter brown color with a light off white head. Aroma was mainly of coffee. Flavor was overwhelming coffee and thats it. Really interesting for an amber. josarah (106), Hinesburg, Vermont, USA
