Hop Noir is a delectable Black IPA, dripping with piney, aromatic Centennial hops. The malt base is dark and rich, anchored by organic black malt. This provides a strong foundation for the extravagant kettle hopping and dry-hopping that this beer experiences. Enjoy with a night-light.

Odd aromas and flavors of copper and metal first greeted my senses, though quickly integrated into layers of light molasses, roasted malt, roasted meat, mild saline nuances, and orange citrus. Mildly bitter nuances keep the beer refreshing, though the roasted, toasted flavors dominate the beer overall. Not bad.. Though average at best. --- tasted while on a long journey to understand the world around me...

#21 - pours dark brown, thick tan head, good lacing. Smells of citrus, dates, chocolate, coffee. Taste is more on the malt side, the hop coming through as a bitter effect. A little sweet. Chocolate and sour coffee. More like a porter, but slight bitter finish. Just OK. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Thin, off white creamy head and an opaque black body. Nose of sour malt with a bitter hop front. Strangely over-carbonated and fruity. Deep roastineas trough the finish but thin across the palate. Very average.

BeerAdvent 2013 Day 21. Pours Very Dark Brown, tan head. Nose is chocolate, pine, roast, citrus. Flavour is chocolate, citrus, quite a lot of black patent malt, makes it taste ashy on the finish, almost acrid.

Pours a very dark brown with just a little light coming through, large tan head that leaves some good lace. Aroma is pine, citrus, chocolate, and roasted malts. Flavour is pine, roasted malts, light citrus, medium bitterness, and chocolate.

Rating #847 - December 21, 2013 - Beer 21 from the Craft BeerAdvent Calendar. Pours a cinematic black, with a bubbly tan head. Aroma is a violent clash between toasted malt, and floral piney hops. Taste is extremely hoppy, tempered with a pleasant coffee, chocolate, burnt sugar sweetness that disguises the higher abv quite well and is beyond refreshing. Unreal.

Pours very dark with nice thin white head. The aroma is nice mix of citrus hops with a touch of pineapple and pine with some molasses and roasty notes as well. The initial taste is of hops strong citrus and pine with subtle mango notes. Mid taste is more malty with chocolate, coffee, licorice, currants, molasses and burnt sugar notes. Finishing taste is earthy, herbal with very resinous bitterness that lingers on the tongue. It has a chalky feel on the palate and it seems to be of average mouth feel. A decent black ipa. I like the bitter finish but would prefer it to wane a bit sooner. The chalky mouth feel is the major negative to an otherwise good beer. I like the the upfront citrus tones and would rebuy this beer.
