COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A unique India Pale Ale, showcasing our favorite hops. The Amarillo®, Simcoe®, and Nugget hops give this beer a bounty of hop flavor and aroma without too much bitterness in the finish.

THOUGHTS: This had some of my favorite hops. While it wasn’t overwhelmingly original at first it was rather complex. Very nice for an organic beer. It was almost mouth-numbingly hoppy. There was an ever so slight Belgian quality to the yeast. I did not expect to like this, but it was very nice. TECHNICAL: The label on my bottle clearly stated 7.1not 7.2 % ABV. Poured a cloudy, dark, slightly brownish, orange with a large, off-white head that mostly diminished and left fair lacing. The aroma had light to moderate caramel malts; moderate to heavy pine grapefruit, orange, apricot and earthy hops; a hint of minty hops; and light to moderate yeast. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and moderate to rather bitter; while the finish was slightly sweet and heavily bitter with an average to long duration. There was caramel, orange hops, grapefruit hops, a little pine hops earthy hops, yeast, pineapple and floral hops. The light to medium body was slightly watery yest also a bit syrupy with fairly fizzy carbonation and a slightly astringent, slightly alcoholic and dry finish.

Dark copper pour with thick off-white head. Good lacing. Strong piney aroma with hints of fruit and citrus. Flavor is very hoppy with pine. The slightest diacetyl is discernible but doesn’t detract too much. Good mouthfeel. A very good beer.

12 oz. Clear orange-amber with a huge spongy head that lingers. Crisp citrus, florals, earthy grain and caramel on the nose. Taste is earthy grain, butterscotch, and light caramel apple on the front. Bitter, earthy citrus and wooden hops enter quickly. Velvety soft, near-medium body is tingly with hops and smoothly carbonated. Almost seems to show more abv than 7.2% at times. Has the characteristic Shipyard twang of British ale yeast and/or kettle hops that make all their beers taste similar to me, but this one has a cleaner taste on top of that.

Deep amber pour with a tight white head. The aroma is very hoppy. Lots of dank hoppiness along with a touch of sweet fruit. Pine/citrus and a little bit of toasted malt underneath with a little bit of orange peel as well. Lots of fruit and a bit of soft sweetness in addition to that. Chewy resinous flavour with a touch of fruit. Clean and chewy but a little bit of sweetness coming through on the back. Tasty stuff really.

On tap at the Matunuck Oyster Bar - Matunuck, RI. Dank, rich, lemony aroma that nicely highlights the Amarillo and Simcoe in a way that I enjoy. Flavors are solid too, although I think the coarse Nugget bitterness comes on a little strong. This is very drinkable and surprised me. The hoppiness was at a flavor level that I would seek out and it wasn’t too sweet nor too flawed.

(bottle). Four Point Sheraton. Nice copper complexion with mild hop aroma. Flavors are straightforward traditional mild IPA flavor. Clean and easy to session. Elevated alcohol very well hidden. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle sample at a spring tasting courtesy of beerandbeyond. Pours cloudy amber with a little foam. Thick honey hard candy aroma and mainly sweet with a little bitterness taste. Dry finish, light body, lively carbonation.

Good aroma of leaves and flowers, regular copper pale looks with decent head. Very good bitterness, a sum of the hops used. Not that astringent. Dont know about IBUs but I would say at least 75. And the palate is just perfect for an IPA. Almost too perfect to jump to a Douple IPA. Extra Bitter, extra dry, and extremely consistent and lasting.

UPDATED: DEC 24, 2013 It’s organic, it’s an IPA, it’s 7.1%. What more could you want? It doesn’t pretend to be anything else, it’s above average for the style. Floral & hoppy and very drinkable. More please.

Aroma of hops and pine. Tastes the same with a citrus punch. Not too much bitterness. Smooth and delicious.
