COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Conceived in DC by Peak Representative Tim Adams

King Crimson is an Imperial Red Ale that delivers a royal bounty of luscious, fruity American hops on top of a sturdy, deep red malt backbone. This beer is lavishly dry-hopped with Simcoe©, adding a citrusy and piney flavor and aroma to the toasty, sweet malt notes. This special treat is a very limited release, so enjoy it while you can.

Pours a hazy brown from the bottle with think off-white head. Aroma is sweet maltiness, caramel and nuts, taste follows, sweeter than the nose. Not bad, but under whelming.

I couldn't get into this. The pour from a bottle was promising with a thick frothy head and deep amber color. The beer was drinkable and not bad but not worth a second look for me. The mix of malt and hops were not well balanced for me, producing a predominant flavor profile of bitter with a slightly sour tone and note of alcohol ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap. Pours brown with ruby highlights and creamy, beige head. Aroma is caramel and cookie malts, spicy and floral hops, light toast, plums, and dates. Flavor is dry, bready malts, dark fruit esters, earthy hop bitterness, and some caramel sweetness; dry, bitter finish. Medium body and low carbonation.

Draft. Pours cloudy red brown with a thin tan head. Thick smooth body and low carbonation. Malty and syrupy. Strong alcohol flavor. Bitter hop taste, slightly sweet. Smells like raisins and malt.

From the tap (Ale House). Glass had a thick head that left good lacing; a reddish color pour. Minor hop aroma, grassy if anything. Sweet malt initial impression, but with a bitter aftertaste with a hint of alcohol.

From the foil-topped 22 fl. oz. bottle. The pour is reddish brown with a decent tan head that lasts. The aroma is full of vibrant floral hops and berry-like sweetness from the malts. The body is medium and a tad acidic. The taste has a solid lingering bitterness akin to an IPA but with a sweeter kick.

Had sampled at Ale House. Couldn’t bring myself to buy a full pour. I’m not sorry. I’d have to cough up $8 for this shit. Has the complexion of a clear amber; trim off-white ring. Peanut brittle, honey, agave syrup, and caramel detected on the nose and in the mouth. Too artificially sweet, without too many hops, and the hops that were in this thing tasted of onions and herbs. Obviously not the most balanced of flavors. Smells certainly smokier than it actually was.

Location: 22 oz bottle from State Line, 1/29/13

Aroma: The nose is hoppy and resiny, with caramel, toast, some earth, and some orange/grapefruit
Appearance: Pours an unclear dark reddish color with a beige head and some sticky lacework
Flavor: The taste is sweet and malty, with plenty of lasting hop bitterness on the finish
Palate: The body is medium-plus, it is sticky and chewy, a little astringent, with a dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a pretty solid one. The flavor doesn’t quite live up to the really nice promise of the nose, but it is still a good beer. This is the most interesting thing I’ve tried from Peak Organic.
