Great in providing very clearly understood flavor dimensions of coffee and chocolate, and balanced between those two, but not balanced as to its somewhat sickly complexion. 85% opaque. Big, but not perfect. (on tap at Toronado, S.F.)

Bottle, shared with Parksy ansd Faysal. Thick near-black pour. Amazing aroma of rich coffe and chocolate, sweet and deep. Big palate, bold flavours of fresh coffee beans with avegetal edge, bitter chocolate, sweet vanilla, oak, light chocolate milk, and subtle spice. SO MUCH BETTER than what I was anticipating!!

[US West Coast Trip 2013] svart med väldigt söt aroma av kaffe och chocklad. Väldigt kraftig i smaken vilket jag gillar. Välbalanserad.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours an opaque black with it initial brown head that?s short lived and turns into a spotty top. Aroma is dark chocolate, coffee which really does make a good mocha, oak, vanilla, and a good overall roasted malt profile. Flavour is dark chocolate, creamy mouthfeel, coffee, mild bitterness, oak and vanilla. Really nice beer for what they?re going for!

Draft at Sybarite Pig. Tulip. Black opaque pour with very thick dark tan head. Very nice lace throughout. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and roasted malts. Taste is rich malts, bitter coffee, chocolate, and finishes vanilla. Mouth is very smooth with a bitter aftertaste. One of the best from Peak.

From 22oz bottle. Pours deep dark black with large mocha head, settling down to a good lacing. Aroma is dark chocolate, sweet creamy coffee, vanilla, & hops. Flavour’s of bittersweet chocolate, bitter coffee, hop bitterness, oak and a slight liquorice coming through. Good carbonation, with a medium bodied mouthfeel, the finish is long and bitter, a little astringent on the back of the tongue. Kinda reminds me of an Oak Aged Yeti, but the oak is kept in check here.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Blackish pour. Aroma is pure mocha, lots of oak and vanilla. Flavor is very similiar. There is a weakness to the base beer that hurts but the cocoa, coffee, and vanilla notes are nice.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A very complex beer with expertly balanced contributions from yeast hops and malt. Vanilla, chocolate notes are very well done accents along with subtle oak tannins. But this beer has big malt to incorporate all these fine elements. Very interesting beer, not by the case but sip by sip. A lot fun to taste.

Black, complex, chocolate, coffee, stout. Strong but not bitter; Chocolate versus vanilla works really well.
