3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 andrewturba (456) - Alberta, CANADA - MAY 16, 2013
Pours an opaque black with it initial brown head that?s short lived and turns into a spotty top. Aroma is dark chocolate, coffee which really does make a good mocha, oak, vanilla, and a good overall roasted malt profile. Flavour is dark chocolate, creamy mouthfeel, coffee, mild bitterness, oak and vanilla. Really nice beer for what they?re going for!

Draft at Sybarite Pig. Tulip. Black opaque pour with very thick dark tan head. Very nice lace throughout. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and roasted malts. Taste is rich malts, bitter coffee, chocolate, and finishes vanilla. Mouth is very smooth with a bitter aftertaste. One of the best from Peak.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Torontoblue (48) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 3, 2013
From 22oz bottle. Pours deep dark black with large mocha head, settling down to a good lacing. Aroma is dark chocolate, sweet creamy coffee, vanilla, & hops. Flavour’s of bittersweet chocolate, bitter coffee, hop bitterness, oak and a slight liquorice coming through. Good carbonation, with a medium bodied mouthfeel, the finish is long and bitter, a little astringent on the back of the tongue. Kinda reminds me of an Oak Aged Yeti, but the oak is kept in check here.
3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20 crossovert (4565) - Wisconsin, USA - APR 23, 2013
Blackish pour. Aroma is pure mocha, lots of oak and vanilla. Flavor is very similiar. There is a weakness to the base beer that hurts but the cocoa, coffee, and vanilla notes are nice.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 ludhaber (38) - Massachusetts, USA - APR 20, 2013
A very complex beer with expertly balanced contributions from yeast hops and malt. Vanilla, chocolate notes are very well done accents along with subtle oak tannins. But this beer has big malt to incorporate all these fine elements. Very interesting beer, not by the case but sip by sip. A lot fun to taste.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20 bigben873 (92) - Virginia, USA - APR 20, 2013
Black, complex, chocolate, coffee, stout. Strong but not bitter; Chocolate versus vanilla works really well.

650ml bomber pours dark black in color with a finger of light beige head that settles quickly and leaves some spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma is chocolate and caramel with some hints of dark fruit. Taste is a chocolate malty and fruity sweetness with a roasted malty bitterness and hints of coffee. Medium to heavy body with adequate carbonation. A nicely done imperial stout that is definitely recommended for a pleasant tasting experience.

22oz bomber split with Anndiesel. Pitch black body, beige head. Sweet cocoa, coffee aroma. Quite a fantastic Stout, the big luscious chocolate tones remind me a lot of some great Danish Imperial examples, or maybe a mellower version of a Southern Tier. A nice balance between the chocolate, oak, and coffee. Really covers/incorporates the alcohol well, delightfully drinkable. Peak makes some solid beers that fly under the radar, and this is one of them.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 ben4321 (2995) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - FEB 26, 2013
Location: 22 oz bottle from State Line, 2/26/13
Aroma: The aroma is sweetened coffee, with some vanilla, roasted malts, and chocolate
Appearance: Pours a dark brown color with a small medium brown head and spotty lace
Flavor: The taste is rather sweet with some roast but it has very little in the way of balancing hop
Palate:Medium bodied, though it feels light in style, with average carbonation, and some stickiness
Overall Impression:
This is an extremely sweet example of the style, but it’s still a drinkable beer. Overall though, while I found those components to be pretty enjoyable on the nose, they just felt too sweet when it comes to taste. Good stuff, but it is not top notch.
