COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Weiss Principal is the international love child of a German Hefe-Weisse and an American Double IPA. This unfiltered wheat beer employs a traditional German Weiss yeast, providing engaging banana and clove flavors. A stern dry-hopping of a pungent American hops provides pronounced citrus, pine & fruit notes.

22oz bottle, twist-off with gold foil. Cloudy golden color, tall white foam. Large yeast cake at the bottom of the bottle. Lots of banana and spicy clove scent. A touch of mixed berry. Flavor is very spicy, all clove. A nice presence of wheat malt and banana. Large amount of American citrus hops as well in the finish. Lots of hops, very bitter on the palate. Sticky on the glass and heavy bodied as well. I’d like to try it on draft.

Pours gold into a shaker. Bright white micro head with very good retention recedes to coat surface. Hot banana and clove aromas. Dark sour clove front to back with a cloying clove finish. Cloves.

22oz bottle. hazy gold with a large, fluffy, white head. peach, coconut milk, honey, pineapple and just a hint of banana in the nose. flavors of pineapple, peach, apricot, piney hops. kind of a jumbled mess. not really digging this much, except for the name.

22oz bomber split with Anndiesel. Super yeasty, unfiltered thick orange-tan. Creamy, impressive white head. I’m not a fan of most Double Wits I’ve had, but this one sort of reminds me more of a big German Weizenbock. albeit more aggressively hopped...hmmm..sort of like a big White IPA in a sense. Orange juice, grapefruit, banana, clove. Very nice offering, another winner from Peak.

Marigold and lemongrass nose, soil accents, banana hints. Cloudy amber, abundant sediment, headless. Lilly dominant flavor upfront, moonpie banana and marshmallow barge in at midpalate. Somewhat chemical in the finish,. A little resinous as well, which I find off putting with the typical weizen flavors. I attribute that to a weird gestalt between the floral hop notes and fruity hefe yeast esters. I really dig the idea of hoppy hefes, as my past rating will attest. I don’t think the selection of hops wa right for this base beer, however.

22oz bottle thanks to AirForceHops
Appearance: Pours slightly hazy golden with a big creamy white head and lots of sticky lacing
Aroma: Wheat, yeast, clove, citrus and spices
Taste: Sweet malts, citrus, spices, hot alcohols with a bitter finish
Ok. The sweetness and alcohols took over and covered up a usually light and refreshing beer.

auerbrau (2953) - Peace Dale, Rhode Island, USA - JUL 28, 2012
22oz Bottle, purchased at Pier Liquor - Narragansett, RI. Aroma reeks of bananas, a little too ripe, punched through with leafy green C-hop resin. I’m kind of conflicted about the quality of the aroma, it’s just a bit too phenolic for me. The flavors start out kind of rough, but through the course of the bottle smooth. The hefe settles down and lets the clean, Grapefruit and Cinnamon qualities of the C-hop flavors show through. In the end, the bitterness is snappy, clean, and refreshing. A big, interesting experiment that probably would have failed if the hops weren’t as big as they were.

Bomber: Pours a cloudy orange with a huge white head, massive clove banana and bubblegum aroma, starts and ends lightly sweet, mild carbonation, medium bodied.

22oz bottle in a shaker. Pours amber with a fluffy, off-white head. Aroma of some caramel malts, light wheat and spice notes, and some piney/citrusy hops. Flavor about the same. Smooth texture, but could be a little thicker. A pretty good beer.

Pours a two finger white head that fades very slowly leaving some lace. Murky pale amber color, ton of yeast left in bottle. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Yeasty nose, flavor is lemon and yeast, with a lingering pine hop aftertaste. Higher ABV is hidden. $5.95 for a 22oz bottle from Bert’s Better Beers Hooksett, NH.
