3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep brown-black pour with a thick brown head. The aroma is really chocolatey. Lots of a Hershey syrup like character and a moderate/high sweetness. Its got a little bit of an herbal/root beer quality through the middle of the palate. It’s actually fairly pleasant but also a bit artificial. Hard to reconcile those two but there you go.

Draft - Bittersweet chocolate, some syrup and roast. Jet black with no head. Sweet syrupy dark chocolate. Although very sweet, still pleasantly nice.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sample from tap at the brewery as Chocolate Maximus. A deep damson purple colour with no head; aroma of drinking chocolate; smooth with a rich, sweet, chocolatey taste.

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at Pearl Street. Standard stout appearance: black with a medium sized light brown head. Really big chocolate nose, syrupy and sugary sweet with crispy graham crackers - very reminiscent of smores. Richness doesn’t follow into the flavor, which is lightly roasty with a quick pine hop twinge and a slight oak woodiness at the end. Very thin bodied with low carbonation gives a pretty watery mouthfeel. Super easy to drink, but lacking in both richness and robustness I expect in a chocolate stout.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Chocolate liquor colored body. Intense aromas of chocolate wine with some intense smokey notes. The body is smooth and powerful, but decidedly chocolate extract tasting.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at the brewpub. Pours near black with a thin beige head. Chocolatey mocha aroma with a hint of roast. The body is a bit on the thin side. The flavor has creamy chocolate, cocoa, mocha and burnt malts. Pretty good.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
[3888-20110819] Tap. Strong cherry cola Tootsie Roll aroma. Dark cola body with a quick foamy light tan head. More sweet cola fruit and Tootsie Roll burnt malt in the flavour where everything together becomes overwhelming. Full body. Unique but overwhelming! (7/3/5/3/12-) 3.0-

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
2011-08-19. Black body with a small tan head that fades. 3+ Strong flavour of Hershey’ syrup or perhaps chocolate extract? Muted roasty accents are largely overwhelmed by the overly sweet chocolate character. 6+ Pleasant aroma is similarly chocolate focused, with notes of Hershey’s syrup and tootsie roll. 7+ Smooth average bodied palate is too light for the beer, which needs something more robust to carry such strong flavours. Okay in a small sample but I shudder at the thought of more than a half pint of this - far to sweet. On tap at Pearl St. as "Billy Bonka", Buffalo

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
On tap at the brew pub. Dark brown with light tan head that faded. Not much to it at all except this very weird chocolate flavour. Almost sour. Not sure if that was on purpose or not. OK.
