mabel (1577), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 6, 2008 [1350-20080517] Tap. Pond water yeast aroma. Slightly hazy, dark ruby brown body with a quick head. Licorice base flavour has non-descript malt traits. Medium body is boozy. Strange colour (and booziness) is definitely illuminating.
(@ Pearl Street; Buffalo, NY) jerc (3102), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 19, 2008 2008-05-17. Dark caramel amber body, near headless. Boozy, hot alcohol obliterates initial yeasty Aventinus like weizenbock character, occassional glimpses of yeast and esters, caramel touches. (6+) Flavour is similar, with a bit more sweetness, lightly hot finish and noticeable warming in the throat. Average palate. Shows potential but is a bit of n unrefined brute at this point. Sampler at the brewpub.
