COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Dull bronze, quite sweet, bit doughy on the pale malts. Some alcohol comes in late. Straddles ESL/heller bock.

Bottle 33cl. Pours a small white head. Dark golden appearance with some hints of brown and copper. Malty aroma with hints of wood and orange. Taste is more hoppy, but also sweet malts and orange peel. Short bitter aftertaste. Oily texture. Nice.

Small bottle. Golden body, smallish head. Weak grainy aroma with hints of booze. Slightly tinny taste with honey-like sweetness and papery hops. But it’s somewhat drinkable when chilled.

330ml bottle (Trattoria Il Gallo Nero). Clear golden color, no head. Metallic, minerals and iron in aroma. Malty, sweet and metallic flavor. As it stays in a glass for a while taste goes weird. It reminds me apple jam.

330ml bottle (Il Gallo Nero, Tallinn)
Pale gold. Sweet fruity aroma, a little bit jammy. Apple jam retronasals. Tastes a bit like an ESL, which I think this probably should be categorised as - there is a touch of almond and even a hint of ginger once. Dry slightly irony finish. Not as full as you’d expect for a 6.7% beer, nor as sweet or full, a bit dull. Definitely not a ’Heller Bock’. This is just pale lager (what’s ’granturco’?) cranked up on the booze scale.
