Cask (CWAF2012, Fri)
Sticky sweet almondy mashy aroma - strangely hints in the direction of a hellerbock. Soft palate, smooth carbonation. In the mouth again bocky grains, and a gently husky finish. A bit of a cross-dresser, but I’m not beerist, I like bocks too.

Cask (handpump) at Great British Beer Festival, day 4 on 5 August 2011. Amber colour with a thin white head. More malt than hop here, although it’s more of the fruity than nutty persuasion. Have to admit I didn’t realize this was a six percenter when I was drinking it, although perhaps the name could have been a clue, so I guess I’d have to say the alcohol was well hidden and it was very drinkable for the strength. The flipside of that coin is that it maybe didn’t have the impact or depth of flavour I’d expect from a strong beer. All in all quite enjoyable though.

Gravity at Birmingham Beer Festival 2011. Golden, amber. Treacle malt aroma. Bitter type beer. Thin, split mouthfeel. Lots of malt, quite dry. Some booze in the finish. I don’t quite get what style this is. Good enough. Sunrise roast to the malt.
