4.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Black pour, brown head. Big chocolate and bourbon on the nose, very similar to Rare DOS. Taste is creamy chocolate and marble bread. So so smooth, nice full mouthfeel. One of the easiest drinking stouts I’ve had.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Nooner Batch 3
500 ml growler served in a Kuhnhenn snifter. Thanks to captiveodyssey for the beer.
A: Pours a heavy, opaque black color with a dark brown head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thin ring and film. Some splotches of lace are left down the glass.
S: Dark chocolate bitterness, some sharp oak, sweet booze and burnt sugar. Charred oak and roasted malts with a back end barrel sweetness. A little milk chocolate as well.
T: Heavier on the barrel presence here with some char, a faint peat note and some whiskey. Dark chocolate with a finish of caramel and vanilla with some more whiskey. Some light dark fruits as well.
M: Medium to heavy bodied. Medium low carbonation with an oily and slick coating mouthfeel.
O: Pretty enjoyable overall. The barrel is slightly smokey which is enjoyable and the base beer has enough chocolate and roast to hold up to the barrel aging.
Serving type: growler

Really good beer. I’m not sure if I prefer this or the regular Rare DOS, but it is nonetheless very tasty

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
I don't rate a lot, but please trust me. This is a good one, smells like a single malt, but hides the alcohol in the taste pretty well. He hit the mark on this one, if you like this style you will love the beer enough said.

4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle received in trade from MeadMe, thanks for the opportunity.
Pours an inky black with a smallish tan head that takes some coaxing to come out. Smells of chocolate, vanilla, caramel, molasses, a bit of oak, some brown sugar. Very pleasant nose. The flavor is sweet with brown sugar and caramel and bits of chocolate, vanilla, roasted grain, and wood tannin. Thick body with a creamy silky syrupy mouthfeel and a very light level of carbonation. Love the aroma, this is a very nice stout, I could sip several more of these given half a chance.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Opaque black, almost no foam visible. What did I just open? Smells of bread: rye, whole grain, wheat, and nutty. Hard to discern any other aromas without tasting it. Drinking it brings out whiskey, some dark fruit, a little bit of chocolate, hints of caramel, and perhaps vinous barrel character. Slightly umami in the taste. Full-bodied, viscous, and smooth, but not as much as RareR.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Batch is 2013 from a growler. The aroma makes me want to take this to bed and make sweet, sweet love to it. Rye bread, malt whiskey and pumpernickel bread.
The flavor is almost like having a blue eyed, blond haired woman with voluptuous breasts and an ass that tastes like French vanilla ice cream... Wait, what did I just type?..?
This stout drinks like pure sex... No really, this is right along the best beers I have ever sampled and I don’t type
That lightly. Amazing ..... " you shake my nerves and you raddle my brain, you drive this man insane!"

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Batch 3 Nooner, nice pop of the top into a stemmed wine glass at 55F
A - Like the other DOS beers, pitch oily black, although this has a nice creamy espresso colored head that doesn’t fade
S - Wow the nose is really incredible. charcoal, lots of caramel and toffee with some vanilla and coconut. Nice mocha and espresso.
T - wow. This is pretty amazing. Very sweet and creamy with some whiskey booziness and vanilla. I get some bitterness, charcoal / charred oak? there’s an interesting aspect to this....lots of chocolate but something else I can’t pinpoint.
M - Thick mouthfeel, oily and thick.
O - Wow yeah, I LOVE this beer. could drink this every day.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Growler from bytemesis, thanks! Very dark, foamless after setting for a minute, nothing to write home about as far as appearance. Sweet aroma, raisin bread, and alcohol. Taste is also rich, molasses, nutty, some smoke/whiskey notes. Almond after taste. A big beer, tasty, could use some refinement.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: AUG 19, 2013 Growler, thanks to 50belair, shared with friends at a stout tasting! Pours pitch black with a tiny head and some lacing. Aroma is rich dark fruit, whiskey, roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla. Flavor is rich, decadent, sweet, dark fruits. Full body, creamy. Not quite up to the RareR standard, but a very nice beer nonetheless.
