Thanks tectactoe on the pour. A really nice deep dark color with a light of red. Boozy aroma. A lot of dark fruits and a very smooth feel. Good stuff.

Too much whiskey for my liking. I feel this way about pretty much every straight BA Pegís Stout, so itís something about their barrel program or the base beer that doesnít register well with me.

Small fliptop growler labeled nooner. Pours uber black with thin mocha head and some decent carbonation still. Smell is quite boozy, sweet vanilla, rum and more vanilla. Taste is where the money is though. Big rum soaked vanilla beans, chocolate. Sweet, but not overly. Really fantastic.

Growler, thanks tectactoe! Opened 6 months after fill. Pours black with no head at all, didnít expect any at this point. Awesome sweet aroma of chocolate cake, roast, milk, whiskey, and oak. Tastes is a great mix of chocolate cake, milk, and vanilla. Some light whiskey and caramel in the finish too. Thin body with a super slick and oily mouthfeel. Really good but could definitely be a bit thicker.

UPDATED: JAN 29, 2014 Growler: thanks, Alex! Opened a little over 6 months after growlering... I know, I know. But Iíve had older that survived, so here goes. Oily, dark brown & black pour... no head, as expected... barely even a tan ring at the edges, only a few straw bubbles. Aroma is crazy delicious; fudge cake, burnt brown sugar, light whiskey soaked oak chips, mild molasses, a small touch of vanilla & syrup... Delicate, robust, very smooth. Taste is also very smooth; good bourbon & oak presence but not overpowering. Chocolate cake, fudge, oak, a hint of rum raisins, lightly burnt caramel, slight vanilla drizzle. Dessert-like; slightly sweet but balanced by smooth bourbon. Would like a thicker mouth feel, but itís still nicely slick & oily. Wow, this was great... Much better than Rare & RareR in my opinion... Even after the long growler storage. Bravo.

Bottle: The aroma consists of chocolate, vanilla, maple syrup, caramel, whiskey, faint smoke, and barely a hint of alcohol. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and virtually no head...maybe a stray bubble here and there. The flavor starts with moderate chocolate, faint molasses, and caramel. The finish has maple syrup, vanilla/coconut, whiskey, and a touch of roast. Itís medium bodied with mild carbonation.

Black pour, brown head. Big chocolate and bourbon on the nose, very similar to Rare DOS. Taste is creamy chocolate and marble bread. So so smooth, nice full mouthfeel. One of the easiest drinking stouts Iíve had.

Nooner Batch 3 500 ml growler served in a Kuhnhenn snifter. Thanks to captiveodyssey for the beer. A: Pours a heavy, opaque black color with a dark brown head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thin ring and film. Some splotches of lace are left down the glass. S: Dark chocolate bitterness, some sharp oak, sweet booze and burnt sugar. Charred oak and roasted malts with a back end barrel sweetness. A little milk chocolate as well. T: Heavier on the barrel presence here with some char, a faint peat note and some whiskey. Dark chocolate with a finish of caramel and vanilla with some more whiskey. Some light dark fruits as well. M: Medium to heavy bodied. Medium low carbonation with an oily and slick coating mouthfeel. O: Pretty enjoyable overall. The barrel is slightly smokey which is enjoyable and the base beer has enough chocolate and roast to hold up to the barrel aging. Serving type: growler 08-30-2013

Really good beer. Iím not sure if I prefer this or the regular Rare DOS, but it is nonetheless very tasty
