3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Growler: Thanks to mikem409. Oily & black like squid’s ink, with a small, deep-tan head that builds up to a quarter-inch & recedes into nothing quickly. Rich & sweet aroma with chocolate fudge cake, whiskey laced oak, cinnamon, barrel induced vanillin, & a lot of dark fruits covered in brown sugar; prunes, raisins, figs. Fudgy, boozy, sweet. Flavor follows the heavy fudge & bittersweet chocolate profile up front with undertones of cinnamon bun, tart currants, dates, caramel, woody coconut, vanilla, whiskey, figs, & anise. Medium-heavy body with a slightly oily mouth feel. Did not blow me away as I expected, but still a really good stout nonetheless. I prefer RareR & well as some of the Nooner barrel treatments.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Growler during RBWG 2015. Pours oily black with a foamy tan head. The aroma has lots of hard roast, light smoke, baking cocoa, some vanilla. Medium to big sweet flavor with some dark fruits, oily chocolate, roast, scorched earth, burnt wood. Full bodied, soft, oily and chewy. Lightly warming on the finish with plenty of gooey chocolate, bittersweet chocolate, raisins, leather. Heavy duty stuff but certainly very good.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle enjoyed quietly at home as a nightcap after Bruges beer festival weekend. Pours near black with a beige head. Aroma of rich dark chocolate, molasses, light smooth whiskey notes, wood, vanilla, dark fruit notes, leather and fudge. Flavor is light heavy sweet and bitter. Full bodied with soft carbonation. Lovely!
