Bottle @ home. Thanks again, Jake. Black in color with minimal tan foam. Mostly a bunch of dark chooclate, roast, and vanilla. Some alcohol, a hint of fudge, and a touch of ash. Nice dark fruits, at least. Lots of burnt sugar and molasses notes as well. Pretty sweet, but does have a nice bit of roast character to it still. Much better than the Nooner 6 we had just prior to this.

Aroma - solid but nothing overwhelming; hints of whiskey, oak and chocolate roasted malts Appearance - beautiful; pours a beautiful black with subtle transparency while looking black as night in the snifter Taste - amazing example of the style; beautiful base stout with chocolate, burnt caramel and roasted malts blended into wonderful, but not overwhelming sweet whiskey vanilla notes and drying tannin finish Palate - full bodied without being chewy; perfect carbonation for the style Overall - just a wonderful representation of a barrel-aged imperial stout; nothing seemingly overwhelms or standouts on this one but all aspects are well above average to great

Bottle thanks to 50Belair! Glad to have a chance to try the "uninfected version." Dumped my old rating completely and starting over here. Pours opaque black, small tan head, good lacing. Aroma is nice, bourbon, vanilla and chocolate, molasses, coffee and raisins. Flavor is medium sweet, light bitter, bourbon and rich chocolate vanilla roastiness. Medium body, soft mouthfeel. Yum.

Bottle, Pours black color with average sized top. Notes of date, plum, Prune choclate and espresso. A nice balance of sweet and roast in this one. Some rich bourbon in the finish.

Dark but not impenetrable, little foam. Cherry, prune, definitely on the rich side of the spectrum. Flavor follows but adds cherry bourbon and roast, tobacco. Great beer.

22oz bottle into a very large german stein I’ve had a few iterations of Rare Dos at this point, with this one being far and away the best of the bunch. Doug has really perfected his barrel aged stouts over the years

Mouth feel: medium to thick body, viscous, and coated the mouth nicely. Aroma: strong barrel with chocolatey notes Taste: strong barrel presence but not over powering. Balanced and chocolatey Palate: pours black with nice head. Nice legs left on the glass Overall: outstanding beer. Flavors meld together with nice barrel character to add depth and complexity.

Bottle @ Saturday night tasting - The Stein & Vine. Thanks Hunter.

An excellent, super smooth BA stout that I would have any time. Really nice stuff, but there’s just so much out there it gets lost in the crowd of excellent beers in the style. Definitely worth grabbing if you have the chance.
