4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Growler courtesy of Colin. Dark brown/black pour with a chocolate head. Ridiculous vanilla and caramel aromas. All kinds of smooth caramel, rich fudge, and warm chocolate notes. Great body and lacing. Good balance with vanilla and woody undercurrents. Another stunner from Doug...

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
RareR treated with a ton of vanilla. Sounds amazing right? Well it is. Thanks to Colin for supplying this growler. Nose is the only thing about this thats a bit off. The rum barrel kinda fights against the vanilla and chocolate flavors from the beer, and detracts from the nose a bit. Appearance wise. its a beautiful beer and man is it tasty. I love Vanilla and this beer has it all over the place. Its also got the great base beer of Rarer which makes this a real treat. The palate is huge and perfectly balanced. Overall it really only lost a bit cause of the barrel. Oddly enough I think in this case Bourbon would have been a better choice. The rum just seemed at odds with the beers in some very subtle ways.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at pegs during the barrel-aged event with Maggi. Pours a deep black body with thin wispy lacing. Aroma is super rich vanilla, Sweet sugar, bourbon and light oak. Mouthfeel is smooth and rich with notes of bourbon heat up front and some sweet vanilla in the finish. A bit too much heat, but still an excellent stout.
