4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle from newcigarz. Thanks man. Aroma is buttered rum, toffee, candied pecans, cocoa, and black licorice. Flavor has most of the above with some medium roast coffee notes and some slight bittering hops. Palate is amazing, considering the richness of this brew, and really opens up in the middle to showcase its components. Finishes cleanly with narrowing aftertaste. Stellar beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at Mikkeller & Friends. Reddish dark brown with a lacing creamy small beige head. Dark roasted malts and a heavy dose of rhum and oaky accents are the first aromas that hits your nostrils. Furthermore there are notes of plums, smooth coffee, vanilla, plums and soaked raisins. Taste is heavy sweet and medium bitter with lots of wood and a strong presence of alcohol with hints of licorice in the finish. Body is full, texture is sticky, carbonation is soft. Would like to try this on its on, with no barrel and rhum accents.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Draught at Mikkeller Bar. Distinct vanilla and cigarbox aroma. Black colour. Small stable dark brown head. The flavour is also of good vanilla, quite smooth and creamy. Some smoke in the finish. Late burn, more like alcohol than hops. Flavourful, but well-balanced and very smooth.

Tap. Pitch black with a small light brown head. Rum and molasses on the nose. Notes of vanilla, coconut, very light alcohol burn, dark chocolate, sweet licorice. Rum flavors dominating. Taste is near heavy sweet and medium bitter. Medium/full body, sticky oily texture, soft carbonation. You like rum? You like big sweet imperial stouts? If yes, this is for you.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tap @ Mikkeller & Friends. Black pour with a deep dark brown head. Aroma is a beauty - chocolate ganache, fudge, sugar roasted hazelnuts, sugar cane, rum, vanilla, a nice coffee presence that is a lot like cappucino. Amaretto and toasted almonds as well. Really good! Taste is not close to being as smooth and elegant as the aroma, and is surprisingly roasted and bitter - the barrel comes through strongly, a clear alcohol presence in there. Strong toasted notes, black liquorice notes én masse, molasses and a hint of tar. Then a considerable sweetness of dark chocolate, burnt caramel and the spicy rum notes. Aroma and taste are surprisingly different. Body is oiæy and very viscous - lots of sugar left in this baby. Would dig more if it wasn’t as strong on the tarry roasted notes. Really good!

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Growler poured into a snifter. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of rum, roasted malts, a lot of chocolate and coffee, and a little bit of bitterness. Flavor the same with such a great blend of rum and dark, roasted malts. Smooth, oily texture. A great beer with the rum adding a lot to the imperial stout.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
From growler, shared by tom10101. Pitch black pour with thin veil of brown foam. Multi layered aroma, vanilla, molasses, coconut, rum, cake, caramel, fairly dim roastiness, definitely on the sweeter side of things a carribean treat. Chocolaty flavor, roasty acidity, rather dry compared to the aroma, was expecting something a lot sweeter and dessert-like. Palate is silky, creamy, a bit light for an american IS but quite enjoyable nonetheless. Could use more body but an interesting original take on the good ole IS.
