As the name reveils this is an amber ale with all its favours. Beautiful in the glass and easy-drunk as most ales, with a little sweetness.

Bottled 250ml. -from Geant Albertville. Dark golden/pale amber coloured, small off-white head, mild malty spicy nose. Sweet malty, caramel and spices with hoppy notes in the finish. Bitter finish. Not bad at all.

Light brown body, fairly nice except that the tan head collapses quickly. Caramel, biscuits, even oatmeal (but only is maltyness, not character). No hops here. Sweet taste of simple malts and some brown sugar, yet too thin to provide a good mouth feel. Big bubbles don’t help either. It has a nicer drinkability than most French blond’s but is too sweet to be called sessionable. The brewer took some short-cuts here, I think. (25cl bottle from Auchan)

Den typischen Ambrée Geschmack kann man herausschmecken und es schmeckt mir wirklich nicht schlecht, wegen der milde bleibt es aber dennoch unter meinen Erwartungen. Test vom 21.9.2009, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,9,8,8,10,9 - 9,05

250 ml bottle in Ziguinchor, Senegal. Pours a light amber color with an off-white head. Strong sweetish, fruity aroma, candy-like, but not in an artificial way. Flavor is equally sweetish cardboard and fruity, but it works a bit better in the aroma than in the flavor. Metallic notes in the palate. Pretty bland other than the chemicals in it.

OK, entering this beer is sure to touch off the discussion, seen in the forums many times, about whether to enter beers like this that are found in other countries, but brewed here inAfrica. I have no idea if the recipe is different. Label says "Brasserie et embouteillee sous licence intenationale par SOBOA Dakar Senegal." SOBOA is the French term for the society of brewers of west africa. So,you make the call. This one, courtesy of USAID, was a clear chestnut color, small beige head with poor retention. Aroma of caramel and light smoke. Taste had a sweet caramel start withabitterand peppery finish. One way or the other, it’s nice to see something besides a lager brewed in west Africa.
