3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, numerous in Marseille and South of France, Sept -Oct2007. Pours redish brown with a muddyhead. Sweet maltyaroma with some fruit.. Flavour is sweet malt with notes of chocolate and some bitterness.
This was invariable the best beer on offer in many cafes ,bars and restaurants i visited all over the south of france last year. While nothing earth shattering, its a drinkable effort, and a great get out of jail card.

UPDATED: APR 16, 2008 330ml bottle
Viscous reddy brown, healthy head. Sweet malty aroma. Sticky sweet malty taste, but quite succulent. A touch of alcohol, but it rides well with the sugars. Dominated by sweet dark malts, so a little 1-dimensional, but still a very pleasant sipper.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
25 cl bottle...Poured a muddy water brown w/ a 1 finger tan head. Nose of roasted malts, carmel, toffee...Flavor of caramel, toffee, roasted malts, some dark fruits, and unfortunately some lasting metallics. Palate was smooth w/ a slight bitter finish. Solid and enjoyable beer...paired well with pizza and a salad.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pelforth Brune is a very nice dinner beer. While I would consider it more of a Strong Ale than a Dunkel, I thoroughly enjoyed this drink. The appearance is perfect. Deep mahogany with a very nice brown head. This beer has a great amount of malt taste and finishes smooth and smoky. I will drink this again.
