Copper brown, not much head. Cold coffee - roasted barley nose. Sweetish: prunes, raisins, sugar. Quite carbonated and light bodied. Abbey brune for beginners. Aftertaste has a touch of alcohol and candy sugar. Dunkel? No.

Sweet and like drinking a beer made out of caramel, which is something I would like to drink more often. Did I say Sweet? It sure is.

Geiserich (3343) - Linz, AUSTRIA - MAY 14, 2005
Bottled:
Malty sweet aroma. Mahogany color, frothy head, light yellow color. Medium bodied, quite sweet and malty, light roasted malt note, some fruity notes, nutty. End is light astringendt, with a hint of dark chocolate. A bit oversweeted.

Nice thick head with a yeasty aroma. Beautiful deep red mahogany color. Very little carbonation, but with a quick malty burst which fades to a slight hoppy aftertaste. Carmelly!

Bottle. Brown, small disappearing head. Biscuity malts, raisins, medium bodied, easy drinking but not that exciting.

Brown-reddish body, beige head, mostly lasting. Sugar, caramel, fruit. Some hops and hazelnuts. Slight bitterness in the finish. Not bad, not really exciting either.

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2007 I need to rate a good beer for my 900th. This is a typical purchase in the shops around France, and at about 2.50 euro a sixpack good value. The presentation is fine in the glass with a good firm head atop a pleasant brown body. The aromas are of caramel and malt. The flavour has a subtle toffee like cloying character that is quite acceptable. There is a nutty finish that could be at home in an ale. A great quaffer.

Brown colour with big beige head. Sweet malty aroma. Sweet malty flavour with notes of nuts, ends up with a bit bitterness. Nothing special, but still a nice beer with high drinkability.

Bottled, pasteurised. Dark brown in colour with foamed head. Caramel malty flavour with a sweet toffee note, somewhat cloying but not undrinkable. A Dunkel? not sure about that, but there is a darker chocolate roast malt note. Fair.
