Quite nice beer as a "mass product". Straight -good palate and great bitterness. Roasted apple and caramel. A little too much of "roast" taste which is essence, I’m afraid.

330 ml bottle, rated originally 2014-09-09 @ Strasbourg
Clear ruby reddish brown beer with little beige head. Aroma has loafy maltiness, herbs and earthiness. Flavor is sweet with syrup and loafy bread. Palate is medium full with mild carbonation. Finish has mild bite of bitterness, sweetness, some alcohol, some licorice and some herbs. A really sweet brew, much like a dunkel.

Flaska. Mörkbrun öl med smutsvitt skum. Dofter av malt, karamell och nöt. Lite väl söt i smaken för min del. Liten beska. Smakinslag av malt, brunt socker och karamell.

Can from Carrefour, Nice. Clear reddish-brown, no head. Has a slightly gritty taste whilst remaining pretty ordinary. There’s some sweetness, but not much and some smoothness in its texture, but again only a smattering of this. Not much chocolate evident if at all. Its strength is not evident.

On tap at a cafe in Paris. Pours a clear medium brown with off-white head. Aroma is subtle malt. Flavor is moderate low bready malt and slight semi-sweet chocolate. I rather enjoyed this beer.

Bottle at Restaurant la Charrette, Poitiers on 15 August. Poured a very dark brown/ ruby, with a large, dense beige head. Aroma of dates, caramel and sweet malt. Thick, pretty smooth mouth feel. Dark malt flavours, with some bread and dried fruit. Finish was toffee, raisins and rye bread.

Pours a cokelike color with a thick head. Nice funky/belgian aroma. Malty taste with tones of burnt candy.

0.25L bottle. Pours a clear red-brown with a frothy tan head. Really nice malt aromas. Chocolate, cinammon, caramel. Initially, quite sweet with some hints of burnt sugar/ caramel that was on the nose. Stays sweet throughout, but finishes with just enough roasted malt and herby hop bitter to balance it out. Medium-body with a surprisingly thin mouthfeel (pleasant given the sweetness) and mild carbonation. Overall, a fairly sweet beer, but features some nice malt aromas and flavors. Even though this is a macro-brew, it’s a good representative of what brown ales can be.
