From tap at the brewpub. Pours hazy dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is toasted dark malty, chocolate and light breadish. Smooth chocolate, light fruity note, mild yeasty and medium bitter. Ends light chocolate flavoured and bitter into the finish.

Sampled @ KBC Festival Den Bosch 2012. Pitch black color, small light brown head. Smell roastyness, some coffee, malts. Taste malts, roastyness, coffee: great balance! Medium body, medium to full carbonation. Very nice beer.

On tap at Arendsnest. Dark black body with tan head. Nose of chocolate and coffee. Taste is chocolate, caramel and slightly watery. Some bitterness in the finish. Enjoyable.

Tap @ KBC ’10. Dark color, off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolat, some rye, hint of hop. Bit sweet taste, reasonable bitter. Not bad.

Tap @ Pelgrim brewpub. Dark brown colour, thin beige head. Nose is light roasted malts, chocolate, bit of cacao. Flavour is light roasted malts, chocolate, bit of liquorice. Slightly dry and bitter finish. Light bodied.

Thin off white head. Clear dark pour. No chocolate aroma but chocolate after-taste. Nice!

Bottle:
Very big, slow disappearing, light brown foamy head on top of a black beer.
Smell sweets, toasted malts, mint and hint of toothpaste.
Taste is watery with low body. Light taste: hints of chocolate, toasty malts, water, light hoppy and hint of coffee.

Tap @ KBC 2010. A pitch black colored beer, with a thick foamy dark beige head. The aroma burned malts with hints of chocolate. The taste is dry bitter chocolate with sweets. Burned malts and some spices. The aftertaste is bitter and a little sweet.

Bottle 0,75ltr: Opaque black coloured brew with an fine taste of roasted malts and chocolate. Suits well in the working-class city of Rotterdam.

Pitch black, brown head. I poured it in a Kasteel glass and funnily it looks exactly like that. Nice aroma with indeed chocolate but also some red apple, muffins and a bit of caramel. Taste is pretty dry, roasted malts and a solid bitterness. Has a quality feel to and and definitely enough flavour. Medium full body and dry ending. Big on falvour if you consider the low ABV. Well done brew. (75cl bottle, reasonably priced)
