COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
You better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout...Bad Santa has arrived. This mysterious dark elixir is filled with complex malt flavors and aromas. The toasted malt and roast character blend seamlessly to the alluring citrus and herbal hop aroma that comes from copious amounts of Ahtanum hops.

Bomber from Bottleworks on my PASS trip shared with ck1. Pours a dark brown with a white-ish head. Aroma has dark bakers chocolate, fruit and some grass. Taste is of bakers chocolate, roasted malts, coffee grounds and sweet fruit. A bit rough with the coffee grounds. Lotta flavor. Very bitter malts in the finish. I got some of Tsunami in it ... from my vague memories of that nice brew. ck1 and I agree "15".

A very strong dark ale. Upon opening smells immediately of whiskey. A nice dark complexion with little head and a good sweet aroma. The flavor is so strong of alcohol that it is tough to palate. Not my favorite of ales.

Decent malt flavor. If it was a bit stronger it would help a whole lot. Still good.

Bottle at Frank’s Pad, thanks to Frank, 10/11/14. Black with a good sized tan covering that retains very well. Nose is liqourice, spice, dark malts, light charr, earthy hops, dark toffee. Taste comprises pine, bitter grapefruit, charr, spice, earthy hops. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with earthy hop bitterness. Ok CDA.

Earthy, dank hop aroma. Earthy/dank hops prominent in flavor as well, mild sharp citrus is noticeable but stays in background. Malt is very dry, dark-roasty with a hint of astringency. Different in a good way as long as you’re not looking for fruity/citrusy hops in your black ipa.

Tap at Pelican Brewing in Tillamook. Pours black with light tan head. Aroma is pine, malty- caramel- not too much aroma. Taste is bitter throughout, medium carbonation, medium to low carbonation. Overall, okay.

Poured from tap to glass. Dark hue with creamy brown head. Aroma is pine, citrus oil, slight roast, cereal. Mouthfeel is nice with a medium light body and crisp carbonation. Taste is dry with a nice hop bitterness and clean finish. Overall this is an enjoyable CDA.

Bottle @ 10K + OT. Thanks, Andrew. Dark brown with ruby highlights. Khaki foam. Piney, herbal, woody hop nose. A bit of apple and peach, slight grass, and some roast. A touch of sweet caramel, chocolate, and toast. Flavor is fairly bitter. Lots of roasted malt and resinous, piney hop character. Herbs, grass, and light malt sweetness. Decent.

>> Pours a clear coal with weak soda fizz. Nose is camphor, cherries smoke. Taste is bitter, weaker body, lemon peel. Palate is mild cocoa, lightly bitter. Wasn’t sure what kind of beer this was, was thinking Christmas generic spiced brown ale. But Black IPA was a shock as this wasn’t anything I associate with that style.

pours black with a dark tan head. The beer starts lightly sweet and bitter. There are some roasted malts and a bit of bitter chocolate. The only thing missing in this black IPA is more hops.
