Commercial Description:
A dark brown color, with a balanced aroma of roasted malts and Northwest-grown hops. The sweetness of the ale, crystal, and chocolate malts blend beautifully with the assertive flavors of Cascade and Mt. Hood hops.

Bomber.

Dark cola pour with a nice near-white head. Heavy malt aroma, plenty of crystal malt and then some, ample cascade hop snap making this into a pretty characteristic PacNW brown ale. Enjoyable if not outstanding.

22. Pours a deep dark cloudy brown, almost black. Loose stringy tan head after a brief surging mousse that falls immediately away. Mild brown bread and cookie dough nose. Creamy medium body, soft carb. Brown bread and cookie dough there as well. Very mild and approachable beer, no notable flaws. Good stuff. Neutral finish. Not a real dazzler, but has plenty of appeal and could easily turn into a stack of empties. Tried this on tap a few summers ago at a cool family Fourth of July get-together in Pacific City. Didn’t really realize then just how cool Pelican is, and been meaning to get back ever since. Cheers to the brew crew there and to the happy memories of the setting. Can’t wait to return.

22oz bottle from 16th St. Liquor in West Van. Pours a cola brown with little head. Aroma is deep malt with a slight hint of toffee. Taste is caramel malt with a hint of chocolate and there is some sweetness that covers the hops. Lingering hop bite that marries well with the alcohol. Tastes slightly boozier than the 5.8% claimed. A good beer, very enjoyable.

22 ounce bottle thanks to BrewDad, autographed by the brewer! Pours a dark cherry color with a medium white head. A sweet malty aroma, some citrus hops and toasted notes. The flavor is similar; sweet toasted malts, light chocolates, a pretty strong hop presence with light bitterness in the finish. Nice and easy to drink.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours clear, rubied brown with a lacy off-white head. Caramel-laden floral nose. Caramel and some chocolate with a dry and lightly bitter finish.

Pours dark red/amber, tan head. Aromas of cocoa & pine.
Flavours of roast malt initially, followed with those nice bitter american hops giving a piney kick. Roasty choc finish.

Pours a dark mahogany amber-brown with a creamy head with decent retention and some lacing. Aroma is sweet and nutty - chestnut & just a hint of molasses. More of this in the taste - chestnut & cola, just a bit of ginger & teryaki. Good carbonation, and a silky, creamy body. Great, quaffable brown ale for the fall. Yum!
