Huge Cascade hop aroma, the subtle malty sweetness, and the spicy, citrusy flavor of this robust, gold colored ale.

Tap- pours a hazy golden/orange with a creamy white head and good lacing. Nice mouthfeel and solid hop character with a pleasant finish and strong bitterness.

Bottle from Beermongers in Portland, OR. Poured a golden colour with a tight, white head. Surprisingly sweet aroma of lavender, honey with some spicy hop. Bitter orange zest on the initial flavour with some biscuity malt and toffee sweetness. Finish was hop resin, dried fruit, mango and straw. Excellently balanced IPA and a fine recommendation for a take home beer.

Bottled in July sometime as indicated by the "7" written on the cap in Sharpie. Purchased at the brewery. A: pours an orange ale with brilliant clarity and about a single finger of toasted cream foam. This falls slowly to a quilt of the same, and is consistently served via a central column of evident bubbles. Ropey lace. S: Pine, grapefruit rind, resin, some sage and bitter orange. Hops dominate over the biscuit malts under there somewhere. T: My initial thought is there is a little bit of soil in this beer - has a flavor like raw dirt or the aftertaste I get when I eat a carrot without washing it first. Plenty of bitterness, some alcohol, sweet malts with a hint of powdered sugar flavor. M: A bit heavy for the style with interesting carb: the carbonation is quite high when it hits the palate, but this dies out quite quickly and the beer then feels thin and nearly flat. Interesting; not sure I dig it. O: Interesting take on a style that makes or breaks a brewery it seems. I like the nose, the look is good, but the taste and flavor leave something to be desired for me. Definitely unique and therefore worth seeking, but I won’t be seeking a second time. Bomber. Cloudy and hazy dark amber with an off white head. Semi sweet tropical hops, some caramel malts, fresh and clean. Full body, moderate carbonation, teases with an initial sweetness that then changes to a completely bitter palate, some citrus and grapefruit on the finish that becomes very dry. Delicious.

Bottle with thanks to douglass88! Bottling date 09/26. Pours hazy orange with a small off-white head that dissipates quickly with decent lacing. Aroma is pine, caramel, citrus. Flavor is the same, light plus sweet and medium bitter, resinous. Medium body, oily mouthfeel. Not rising from the pack here...

Draught. Hazy gold, a little lace. Aroma is big sweet ripe tropical fruit, apple, caramel malt, hops. Flavor is the same with bracing pine bitterness and cooling astringency. Full, thick, lively, warming all the way down, all that astringent mouthwatering hop burp goodness. so good. What you want a west coast DIPA to be.

Pours a clear deep golden with a dense white head, this beer glows in your glass! Huge juicey citrus aroma. Flavors take it deeper with bitter pine and grass, grapefruit and lemon abound. Sweet and malty upfront and then ends with a clean hoppy finish. Possibly one of the most underrated IPA’s of Oregon? For under five dollars a bomber this is a go to for me.

On tap @ Hudson. Pours dark orange golden with thin lacey white head. Aroma is thin malt and big piney, spicy hops. Taste is smooth caramel malt, oddly not sweet at all. Big hop finish: notes of earthy pine, grass, and grapefruit. Lingering bitter aftertaste.

STEVE! We did not get Pelican early enough to be in the Desert IPA-land tasting, but HUGE to bring this back from the PNW! Bomber from Belmont Station - you are a good man, Charlie Brown! Pours a golden orange with a bit of a foamy white head. Aroma has fresh and citrus fruits, some pine and some caramel. Medium bodied and a bit sticky, with a little alcohol. Finishes consistently fruity without getting either too bitter or too sweet. Methinks this would not have been a top 5 in the tasting, but it would have replaced an obvious poorer option. Close to a white whale for me after the miss at Binnys downtown a few years back.

Bomber from New Seasons Market in Portland. Gold pour, thin off-white. Aroma is citrus, caramel, pine hops. Tastes are sweet bready caramel, cascade hops, resiny virus. Very nice balance. Finishes dry and chewy, grassy bitter. Good stuff.
