This beer rated as the Grand Champion at the Australian International Beer Awards. I must say, it is very unique with hops that can blow you head off! It has an amazing hop bitterness that coats the mouth and leaves you with a strong aftertaste. It is nice, but i think it is not very well balanced.

Incredible citrusy and woody hop aroma! Fresh cut hay in the fields! Color is orange/gold. Good carbonation and a pillowy off white head. Creamy, malty taste at first, but the hops definitely take over in the middle, making the biggest impression here. The finish is hop dominated, but some residualy malty sweetness lingers on for some balance. Quite a nice IPA. Not quite one of those super powered Imperials that everyone seems to be brewing lately. THis is well made and one of the better IPA’s I’ve had in some time.

Bright orange, creamy and fairly rich for an IPA, sort of like a cream ale/ IPA hybrid but with definite west coast hop rates, just rasping and out of balance enough so that you know what style Pelican is shooting for here. Amongst the best IPA's here in Oregon which is no small feat...

Clean amber hue with frothy white head and above average lace. The aroma hints of pine and grassy hops, grapefruit and other citrus aromas, dusty yeast esters, and a toasted white bread ester. The taste starts aggressive and piney, very bitter and very dry. Undertones of allspice, clove, pale malts, mint, and light yeast also detected. The finish is long and lingering, full blown cascade sticks to the palate, nice. The mouthfeel is sharp and biting, refreshing in a surreal kind of way. I just couldn't get enough of this basic, straight forward IPA. Not traditional, but very American. A must try for any hophead. Even a stoutie like me enjoyed this. Thanks Joe for the bomber.

UPDATED: MAR 20, 2006 2003/2004 bomber. Wasnt sure what to expect after the Tsunami fell so far short of expectations. This one poured a wonderful orange-gold, bright, crystally and has a medium amount of soft white foamy head. Good lacing. Aroma of clear, fresh, unadulterated cascades. Bitter and citrusy. This smells like a classic. And the taste delivers. Bold, bitter, juicy and full with a lightly sweet malt that dosent dull the presence of the hops. It just adds the needed balance and walks away. Mouthfeel is delicate. Lightly chewy, perfect amount of carbonation. This stuff is world class.

Nice clear orange colored beer with a nice thick creamy off white head with good retention. Wonderful hop aroma with even better hop flavor. Sharp hop bitterness that is also deliciously sweet. A top IPA.

(Bottle) Pours copper color with a medium-sized white head. The hops burst out of the glass with a bountiful aroma. Has a delicious hops flavor with a hint of citrus.

Nice looking pour: clear amber color w/ a finger head. The aroma of hops is all over the place. The flavor is hoppy, but finishes w/ just a hint of sweetness. This is an excellent IPA.

Clear amber body, beautiful rocky off-white head and excellent lacing. Massive grapefruit, citrus, cascade aroma. Brings me back to my days of homebrewing and smelling the hops directly. The flavor is an almost perfect balance of caramel and the citrus hops. Bitterness is quite pleasing. The beer finishes with a bit more pine than grapefruit. Body is medium. The palate is actually quite wonderful. This is one of the best IPAs I have ever had. Wow.

thin, dissipating white head. little carbonation. intense amber body. smells like great weed. citrucy, piney, resinous, hints of mint and apple, definitely mt hoods and cascades, perhaps centennial or chinooks too maybe? Suggestions of pale and crystal malts. classic PNW IPA. front is bitter and intense, foolowed and underlied by a disinct creaminess. some sticky bitterness remains, but cleans up pretty well.
