Huge Cascade hop aroma, the subtle malty sweetness, and the spicy, citrusy flavor of this robust, gold colored ale.

Tap. Dark golden with foamy cream head. Smells like grapefruit cotton candy sprinkled with pepper. Nice strong hoppy flavor. Nice long bitter finish.

Bottle. Clear amber with great lacing. Huge citrus hop aroma with solid maltiness. Crazy bitter from start to finish, though somehow doesn’t feel like 8%

Restrained aroma leads to a discreet flavour profile - all done to perfection. Only problem is that you’d be in big trouble if you drank as much as you’d want to.

It’s been a long time coming for me and this Imperial India Pale Ale from the Oregon coast. I found a big bottle for a decent price today, and so history will be made tonight. It has a typical IPA aroma, nothing suggestive of a whopping 8% alcohol. The taste itself is rather subtle as well, at first, but then the strength comes through. Overall a good beer, not extraordinary, and nothing to make me ashamed of putting it off for so long.

Bottle from Roth’s. Medium amber in color. Nose is heavy on citrus and hoppiness. A little sweetness is noticeable as well. Full mouthfeel. Good malt balance as well.

Bottle on 08.27.14. Poured from a bomber into a mason jar style glass on 10.08.14. A: Caramel, light citrus, and brown sugar. It’s very subtle. A: 2 finger head. See through copper body. T: Caramel, pine, and hop resin dominate. Brown sugar and flower are subtle. P: Crisp. O: This is a malt dominant IPA. The bitterness is acidic and lingers annoyingly. It’s not undrinkable, but not enjoyable. The flower sweetness is nice, but this is not in the West Coast style. Unfortunately, the sink drank it.

Nice DIPA. Deep copper color with small silky head, robust hop aroma, some citrus. Taste adds more resinous hops and a little alcohol warmth. Medium wright, slightly chewy, and slippery.

Poured from a 22. Looks like a standard IPA offering. Aroma is a bit dank and grassy. Flavor is citrusy, grapefruit and sweet. The aftertaste is astringent and the finish is long and bitter. Masks the alcohol fairly well.

Clear copper in the glass with an off-white head. Aroma is citrus, specifically grapefruit, and light cereal malt. Crisp in the mouth, with more tangy citrus notes, pithy bitterness, and a spicy malt profile. Finishes dry, with lingering grapefruit peel and a flutter of alcohol. Tasty stuff.

Bottle. Pours clear reddish dark amber with a rocky to creamy mostly lasting head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of citrus and spruce. Flavors of grapefruit, light to medium bitter, some astringency on the sides of my tongue. Average carbo, good solid malt backbone/well balanced and a long bitter finish being strongest in the far finish.
