COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Just as red lanterns were once used to guide fishing boats to home base at the end of the day during foggy winter weather, our Red Lantern IPA is the perfect way to end your winter day. Born from our brewer’s love of hops and craving for a deep caramel backbone, the rich red color and medium body delivers just the right balance. Copious amounts of El Dorado hops give Red Lantern a clean hoppy finish.

(En fût sur place à Pacific City): Des céréales assouplies, machable dans une eau dure juteuse qui procure une amertume persistante.

Bottle. Clear amber with a large off-white head that lasts well. Gentle aroma is toasty with caramel and bread, pine and some citrus. Sweet and rich, but the maltiness is immediately swamped by citrus- bitter orange more than grapefruit - pine and pepper. The hop side of things brusquely fails to complement the malt. A bit of a muddle.

Bomber. Nice caramel and piney notes throughout. Perfect blend of the Red and the IPA. Balanced yet forward. Good stuff.

My Bottom Line:
Grapefruit and caramel merge, before wooden hop resins, flowers and bready undertones decide to stick around as well.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A frothy head of foam slowly collapses into the misty amber-hued red.
-Bitterness levels are low for the typical IPA-loving palate.
-Even though this is very well made.
-Mouthfeel is soft and ’natural’. Carbonation doesn’t feel forced at all, which I appreciate.
-This is like a lighter Arrogant Bastard.

Bottle.

Pours a deep clear Amber with a large creamy head. Bready malts with a hint of hops on the nose. Taste is full of biscuity malts with a toffee finish. The hops come through with not a great deal of flavour but reasonable bitterness. A nice malt heavy red ale

Pours red with large head. Malty aroma but with lots of resinous hops too. Some piny hops as well. Malty flavours too, very rich but again with a lot of hops to balance things out. Very resinous and piny, some spicy notes too.

Pours out a dark amber with thick, airy beige head. Malt dominates the aroma, leaning towards the RIPA side of the scale. Hops edge in on taste, lots of caramel malts too. Hops drag on in the finish. A maltier IPA.

Herbal, citrus hops and sweet, lightly toasty aroma. Hoppy flavor: Citrus, pepper, herbal. Light malt flavor: Caramel, bread crust. Not as sweet as the aroma had me expecting. Caramel aftertaste. Substantial bitterness.
