COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Drink a beer, save a butterfly!

Silverspot IPA holds a permanent slot in the Pelican lineup with its brilliant gold color and assertively complex hop aroma. Brew Master Darron Welch selected the blend of Sterling, Fuggle and Meridian hops, focusing on herbal, floral, spicy and tangerine-like characters to create this highly drinkable 6% abv English-Style IPA.

Silverspot IPA celebrates the Oregon Silverspot butterfly which once flourished in coastal grasslands from Washington to California. Due to habitat loss, this threatened butterfly is now found only in a handful of protected areas. The Oregon Coast is home to most of these sites including nearby Mt. Hebo and Cascade Head, which can be seen from the patio of the Pelican Pub & Brewery. Oregon Silverspot butterflies depend on a unique ecosystem of coastal grasslands, with caterpillars feeding on violet leaves and butterflies drinking the nectar of flowering plants. A collaborative habitat restoration and reintroduction program is helping to increase this butterfly population. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this beer will help fund conservation efforts for the Oregon Silverspot Butterfly.

English style IPA which nicely balances the forward hops with drinkability. You get more of the greeny hop flavor on first sip and bitterness is much more reserved. You could drink a lot of it. Refreshing and a good example of the style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at the Tillamook location. Pour is clear amber with a big white head and great lacing. Bready, caramelly, grapefruity, orange, bready and earthy hoppy aroma. Taste is cookie malt, grassy, orange peel, bready, caramel, and spicy hops with a medium bitter finish. Medium mouthfeel with medium to high carbonation. Decent IPA.

At prewpub in Tillamook with Taylor, Stephen, and Dina. Pours bronze orange, clear, almost no head. Aroma is sweet earthy caramel hops. Taste is rough red malt, earthy hops, medium bitterness. Red ipa.

12 oz bottle served in a cheater pint. Pours dark golden yellow with medium white head. Aroma is mild nutty caramel malt, only light hops. Taste is oaky lighter caramel malt, again hops are quite light. Well balanced beer, and works well as an ’English’ IPA, but comes up well short in the hop department for a NW IPA. Nice as a pale though.

Bottle A: Clear golden with a fluffy off white head. N: Oranges, cracker, biscuit, pine, touch of pineapple. Fruit syrup, honey, lemon. T: Medium level of sweetness. Bitterness on the back of the throat. M: Alcohol burn in a beer this small? What is this? Stone? Medium body. O: Some fruit loop in an IPA. Actually pretty nice if you like citrusy IPAs, as I do. Pelican does this style pretty well.

hazy gold, low lacing from white ring. Sugary grapefruit nose, bit thin. Flavor is bright fruit sugars front with burnt caramel sugars mid, dominating by sticky but bright caramel and melon.

Pale orange, clear, with a tiny film for a head. Aroma is more tangerine than herbal or grassy like an English IPA. Malty character is fitting for the style with plenty of dry hops in the finish. Just a middle of the road IPA for me.

A - Pours a light tangerine hue with a 2 finger head that dissipates quickly. S - light citrus notes, hints of wheat T - starts off with a strong wheat note and moves into citrus, tangerine, grapefruit and a light bitterness. M - medium bodied with ample carbonation. D - extremely drinkable. Light yet complex with a nice bitter finish.

Draught at the Tap Room in Tillamook. Light citrus hop nose. Medium copper color. Medium citrus/malt initial / rough caramel mid / clean, mildly bitter finish. Medium body. Okay. Moderately NW, but not outstanding in any way.

Poured from bottle to glass. Straw orange hue with white head. Aroma is tangerine, melon, orange, ripe Mexican lime, slightly piney, caramel, straw, sugar. Taste is dry with a well rounded bitterness in the finish. Mouthfeel is refreshing with a medium light body and average carbonation. Overall this is a really nice IPA that is full of pronounced citrus and lemon rather than a singular bitterness. Nice.

Draft - Tons of caramel and sweet malts with a hint of citrus floral hops. Clear gold with a decent head. Lots of sweet caramel malts, more like an east coast IPA. Nice, but I would prefer more hops.
