COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Drink a beer, save a butterfly!

Silverspot IPA holds a permanent slot in the Pelican lineup with its brilliant gold color and assertively complex hop aroma. Brew Master Darron Welch selected the blend of Sterling, Fuggle and Meridian hops, focusing on herbal, floral, spicy and tangerine-like characters to create this highly drinkable 6% abv English-Style IPA.

Silverspot IPA celebrates the Oregon Silverspot butterfly which once flourished in coastal grasslands from Washington to California. Due to habitat loss, this threatened butterfly is now found only in a handful of protected areas. The Oregon Coast is home to most of these sites including nearby Mt. Hebo and Cascade Head, which can be seen from the patio of the Pelican Pub & Brewery. Oregon Silverspot butterflies depend on a unique ecosystem of coastal grasslands, with caterpillars feeding on violet leaves and butterflies drinking the nectar of flowering plants. A collaborative habitat restoration and reintroduction program is helping to increase this butterfly population. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this beer will help fund conservation efforts for the Oregon Silverspot Butterfly.

Clear amber golden body, cream hued head. Biscuit, herbal & malty aromas. Bready malt backbone leads to hoppy, lightly bitter finish. Tasty.

Poors a clear light amber out the bottle, nice thin lingering head. Aroma is very slight fruity hops, smells sweet. Taste is a good bitterness, soft and again lingering and dry. Tasty sessionable kind of Ipa nothing to over the top aroma and flavour wise but good lingering bitterness.

BOTTLE. Pours a hazy orange to copper with thick creamy white head. Malty nose with some spice. Creamy texture... Malts up front, then a hoppy middle with bitterness & spice, thick finish... I get the English style.. Sourced Cellarbrations @ Capel

(Bottle) Very fruity, like melon and berries. Not too hoppy or bitter. I like it because it’s unique, but wouldn’t say it’s great or anything.

Bottle. Medium orange hue, a bit hazy, with a rocky thick off white head. Nice perfumey citrus hop aroma, sweet. The flavour combination of citrus/orange hops and caramel malts give a marmalade character that is very nice. Moderately bitter finish. I like Pelican’s beers, and this is a good one.

Wittales (700) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - MAR 27, 2015
Appearance was clear deep orangish gold with diminishing creamy off white 1/2 head, spotty lacing. Aromas are crystal, caramel notes with spicy, earthery, flowery subtle hops presence. Taste are orange marmalade, spicy hops upfront gives way to toffee sweet middle. The soft leathery, tobacco hop finish. Palate was smooth creamy CO2 with an average length, then a English balanced finish. Overall, a easy soft English IPA.

This is decent. Not overly bitter, but it has a good hop flavor that would really be quite sessionable, but not in the terrible session ipa way. I mean, if you want a light ipa, just drink a pale! Anyways, this is good.

Piney almost minty hops, orange, candy, citrus peel, bittersweet finish. Classic west coast citrus ipa, maybe a bit too simple and not as full bodied as i like them.

This is a easy drinking IPA with a nice palate. The color didn't seem like an IPA.
