COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Midnight black color and rich dark-roasted aroma. Specially blended hops combine with flaked unmalted barley to give this brew a full body and a dense creamy head. All elements combine in a solid, lingering finish.

Drank on tap at the Pelican Pub. Was expecting more given the reviews here on Ratebeer, but was underwhelmed. Low carbonation (which I actually like, but it couldn’t retain much of a head), and it tasted rather forgettable. Definitely not a Rogue!

August 2012 bottle. Black pour with a quickly fading brown head. Roast, cocoa, bitter chocolate, and oat in the aroma. Bitter chocolate dominates the flavor with richer cocoa notes, roast, oat, the sligtest twinge of malt sweetness, and perhaps some complimentary hop bitterness underneath the roast through the finish. Clean mouthfeel. Big on flavor with relatively low ABV and well-made - excellent beer.

Bottle from 5000! Thanks Andre!! Pours a near black color with garnet hues and a trim espresso head that settles to rim the glass. Aroma is chocolate, fudge brownie goodness. Taste is semi-sweet with plenty of roast and a touch of bitterness. Coffee-like. Medium bodied with a somewhat creamy texture. Easy to drink and quite good.

2012 22oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours dark black with a small beige head. Nose is roast, malts, licorice. Flavor is dominated by stale coffee but there is some chocolate and roast in there as well. Not great.
