COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
India Pale Ale is the most popular style in American craftbeer. Named for British ales heavily-hopped for preservation during long sea voyages to colonies in India, modern IPA’s often exhibit citrusy and floral notes with a bitter finish. The Cheeky Yinzer is a nod to the style’s English heritage- the floral earthiness of the Fuggle and Willamette hops are balanced by a malt backbone with fresh bread crust notes and a lager-like edge. The test batch developed by East End’s Andy Kwiatkowski recently took home gold for IPA in the recent TRASH Homebrew Competition so hopes are high for this beer. During the brew day, Penn’s Nick Rosich led the team on his home-field equipment with the help of Andy and Arsenal Cider’s Bill Larkin (who also provided some excellent cured meat, hard cheeses, and vanilla-bourbon cider for the crew to keep morale high).

On tap at Bocktown. Sweet pilsner malt with fruity hops. Pale golden amber clear with light haze and thin white head. Medium body and medium carbonation. Medium sweet with biscuit and caramel, light esters. Medium alcohol sweetness in the finish with bitter hop character. Decent fruity finish with sweet after.

cheap (3379) - Cheap Lager in Western, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 27, 2012

Pgh 2012 craft beer week. On tap at the bockton monaca very nice place and the friendliest of servers. Clear looking pale yellow looking thing. Fairly sweet aroma with a trace of fragranrt hops. Barely any co2 on the palate. Leaves an almost perfect mouth coating finish, but just does not quite get there. Not over the top for a lager lover. Ipa-ish, its a little less than expected; more milder?

On tap at Dive Bar and Grill. This very malty even for a british style, hops are modest. Nice foamy head but not a great result

Beerman6686 (3125) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 23, 2012

This poured a darker amber color with a beige head. Aroma was ready, lighter grassy hops and some caramel. Flavor was a bit off, some spice almost rye like notes, with bitter/herbal/grassy hops and somewhat malty. Its getting to the point for me that the word "British" is another word for we don’t want to pay enough to add the hops to make this good.

UPDATED: APR 23, 2012 Draft at Blue Dust. Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week collaboration. Copper pour with a frothy, very bubbly head. The scent was full of sweet candy sugar - not at all what I expected for an IPA. The palate was a medium bodied, crisp and clean texture. The taste had a hop front, a grassy hop, followed by a sweet fruit presence and that hard to define (for me) candy sugary (from the scent) to finish. ***If anyone knows the exact ABV, please edit the listing. I wasn’t sure.
