mephisto (1083), Taiwan Apr 28, 2008 a textbook dunkel from penn brewing co, the appearance is dark brown with brownish head. it has caramel aroma and a flavor that is distinctly munich malt. a light session brew with a moderate mixing of roasted barley, caramel and munich malt, quite enjoyable.
llcooldave (150), San Antonio, Texas, USA Jul 25, 2008 Very dark looking with a touch of red and a thin head. Roasted malt and definite licorice notes in the aroma and flavor. Lightly carbonated... overall a nice dark brew. BeerFanDan17 (331), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Jul 21, 2008 Nice, smooth, and malty. Sampled at the St. Pete Florida Craft Beer Fest. Pours dark brown with a good balance throughout. phrygian68 (6), Columbiana, Ohio, USA does not count Jun 28, 2008 Malty beer with a little bitterness, not anything great, makes a nice session beer, equally good in the winter as in the summer, slight smokey flavor with a roasted malt aftertaste, decent drinking beer have had many times! PhillyBeer2112 (1815), Orange Park, Florida, USA Jun 23, 2008 Its almost unconscionable that I have never tried this beer! Nice toffee/melanoidin nose, nutty with a hint of chocolate, vaguely earthy. A background of spicy hops. Garnet color with a foamy head. Nice clean presentation with a full rounded toffee malt presence. Tingling hops help segue to the balanced finished, which is earthy, semi-dry, and lightly hopped. Easy drinking, like any good dunkel would be a good partner to a wide variety of foods. dkachur (641), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Jun 23, 2008 Bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville. Pours a cranberry brown with a minimal head. Kinda boring aroma of strong, strong grain. Damn. Taste is straight up roasted malt. Cocoa puffs? Nutty, earthy, grainy.
