dark ruby, whispy beige head, sweet butterscotch candy aroma, lots of butterscotch flavor, light touch of chocolate, almost a chocolate and butterscotch candy, is this intentional?

Cornfield (4218), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Aug 10, 2004 Updated: Jan 23, 2007A smooth, burnt malty flavor that goes down smoothly and leaves a clean after taste... this is what I look for in a dark lager. The aroma is subtle with just a hint of sweetness. This was a most pleasant surprise that I received from a beer club and, if it was available locally, I would keep a regular supply on hand.

hopscotch (4214), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Jun 20, 2005 Harrisburg Beer Festival 2... Draft... The woman at the Penn Brewing Company’s serving station was bitchy. She couldn’t understand why I needed her to rinse out my tasting glass before the pour and gave me hell about it. So much for these festivals being a way to mingle with beer drinkers and attract more of us to one’s line of beers. I was hoping for something great out of this one so I could show how non-biased my rating would be after the incident... not to be. The brew was thin, watery and nondescript. Even when I let it warm, I got nothing out of it. It wasn’t offensive, just tasted like a dark Coors light. Maybe a whisper of chocolate in the nose... maybe I’m reaching. Next beer please! DocLock (3938), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 21, 2004 Pours dark brown/burgundy with malt, toffee, and brown sugar aromas. Tastes and finishes malty, with some sweetness and caramel at the finish.
