The best Pittsburgh beer, and better than most I’ve had elsewhere. Plenty of subtlety; not too bitter or too sweet.

Sep 8, 2008 Another good dark beer! Pours a nice dark brown color with slight head. Smells great--malts and seet combined. A little disappointed in flavor--expecting a nice nutty or fruity taste (maybe even chocolate) and got little of this. However, overall it is a nice, drinkable dark beer.

Sep 6, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours dark copper in color with brown head. Aroma sweet and malty. Taste roasted malt and hoppy bitter with bitter finish.

Aug 29, 2008 Bottle. Pours a blackish brown with a slight head. Nose is roasty and malty. Flavor is slightly sweet and not as roasted or nutty as the color and nose might suggest. Actually this had a very light body but coinciding with that was not much a flavor punch. Actually, this be could be a session beer, but I am going to stick with just the one.

Aug 20, 2008 Tasting - Perfect Pour. Dark brown, light white fizzy head. Roasty chocolate nose with undertones of molasses and bread. Decent balance of cocoa roast over soft touches of earthed bread throughout. Light to medium bodied, soft carbonation, light chocolate finish. A nice example...

Jul 25, 2008 Very dark looking with a touch of red and a thin head. Roasted malt and definite licorice notes in the aroma and flavor. Lightly carbonated... overall a nice dark brew.
