PhillyBeer2112 (1861), Orange Park, Florida, USA Jun 23, 2008 Its almost unconscionable that I have never tried this beer! Nice toffee/melanoidin nose, nutty with a hint of chocolate, vaguely earthy. A background of spicy hops. Garnet color with a foamy head. Nice clean presentation with a full rounded toffee malt presence. Tingling hops help segue to the balanced finished, which is earthy, semi-dry, and lightly hopped. Easy drinking, like any good dunkel would be a good partner to a wide variety of foods.
Beerman6686 (780), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 29, 2008 Poured a nice brown color with an off white head. Aroma was some caramel, chocolate and a little smokey. Flavor was really sweet, not too much to pick out, a bit of caramel. Immy (1588), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Sep 27, 2008 12 oz bottle from LooseCannon. Cola pour with a tight tan head. Sweet caramel nose, a whiff of smoke, lightly burnt. Sweet caramelly flavors, roasty and smoky. Nice. llbjr77 (59), Largo, Florida, USA Sep 8, 2008 Another good dark beer! Pours a nice dark brown color with slight head. Smells great--malts and seet combined. A little disappointed in flavor--expecting a nice nutty or fruity taste (maybe even chocolate) and got little of this. However, overall it is a nice, drinkable dark beer. LooseCannon (680), Norfolk, Virginia, USA Sep 6, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours dark copper in color with brown head. Aroma sweet and malty. Taste roasted malt and hoppy bitter with bitter finish. Thaichile (599), 10aFly, New Jersey, USA Aug 29, 2008 Bottle. Pours a blackish brown with a slight head. Nose is roasty and malty. Flavor is slightly sweet and not as roasted or nutty as the color and nose might suggest. Actually this had a very light body but coinciding with that was not much a flavor punch. Actually, this be could be a session beer, but I am going to stick with just the one.
