2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 cheapdark (2808) - Quiptown & Central Valley, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 28, 2011
Nice easy fun that is quite different than any of the Penn Brewwery stuff I’ve ever had. Earlier Rating: 4/23/2007 Total Score: 2.3 12 oz brown bottle for $1 at Vintage in Boardman. Ubiquitous free and easy pale yellow beer color. Has the aroma of eager refined uncooked bread dough yeast. The taste has hints of enterprising mechanical intuition. A short lived bite is present on the back of the throat. Good happy carbonation on the back of the tongue. Overall, a good lager like well behaved flavor taste and feel.
3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 nike (500) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 22, 2011
draft at brewery, classic German style Dortmunder. Golden pour, small white head, good CO2, lively, lacing throughout the drink. Medium bodied, clean and crisp tasting, hints of fruits/citrus, well-balanced. Light on hop flavoring, clean finish. Not sure why the low ratings on this one?
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 DiarmaidBHK (1392) - Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 1, 2011
Pours golden from tap with a thin white head. Lots of carbonation on the tongue but not much aroma on the nose, not that the two are related. A bit of unspecified fruitiness on the tongue. Finishes clean.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Ron (1572) - Rochester, New York, USA - AUG 19, 2010
Sweet grain malt aroma. Flavor is right on style for a Dortmunder. Sweet grain malt and lager flavors. A light touch of lemon. Nice medium to light body but not watery. Fresh and clean tasting. Drinkable
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Leighton (3585) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 17, 2010
Bottle. A fine beer. Pours a very light yellow with a modest white head that subsides quickly. Grassy aroma, with light malts and some earthy hops. Flavor is delicate and on key. Some malty sweetness, followed by a dry and bitter finish. Quite nice.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 SSKD814 (854) - Pennsylvania, USA - APR 8, 2010
A- Transparent golden yellow body with thin white head that disappears quickly. Little to no lacing left behind in the glass.
S- Light sweet caramel malt smell. Nutty smell too. Very warm and inviting.
T- Initial taste is somewhat bland. Some hints of light malt. Aftertaste is wonderful. Sweet caramel malt and nutty flavors last and last.
P- Light carbonation and light body. Not watery. Well done since this beer has a very light character.
O- Great. I could session and enjoy this all day. I will get this one again.
