Brilliant clear gold with a large, rocky, white head. Beautiful pour. Muted nose of grain and crisp bitterness with a little skunk. More grains, light dose of noble hops, and some skunky bitterness in the flavor. Light body, well carbonated. Lawnmower beer.

Pours a clear bubbly gold with a thick, frothy white head. Bubbles continuously rise to the top, looks like champagne. Smells grainy, some mild citrus, and a little corn. Just a touch of some subtle hops, but not much. Flavor sucks. Just blatantly bland, grainy, a little bitter. Just nothing positive to pull out of it. I guess it goes down easy. I would have chugged this at the beach when I was 17.

12 oz bottle, D’s 6-pack Pittsburgh. Pours a slightly hazy yellow gold body under a two finger bright white foamy head that left some spotty lacing. The nose is fairly light with a little bit of diacetyl and doughy malt. The diacetyl is almost overpowering in the flavor. The malt is just slightly perceptable up front. Minimal to no bitterness present. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with moderate fizzy carbonation. The diacetyl leaves an off-putting buttery oily texture on the finish. This was by far the worst of the bunch from Penn I’ve had yet. Yuck.

Crisp clean easy going lager in the Helles style. Malt forward beer that finish dry and zippy. Nice stuff.

Penn must have had some quality control problems, but not in my sample. My bottle of Penn Gold poured and tasted like classic Helles, only lacking some head retention and carbonation. I didn’t have any of the off-flavors many other reviewers found.

I am not a big fan of the dortmunders except for Great Lakes dm Gold but this beer is up to par. Drinkable and smooth but not one of my favorite Penn beers.

This lager poured a pale yellow with a white frothy head. Somewhat boring to the nose. A little vinager??? First taste wasn’t too bad but a little watery and lifeless.

Aroma and light gold color rather unappetizing. Flavor lacks real body or definition with a weird weak hop backbone. I am glad this beer was cheap...
