3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 LinusStick (2386) - Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 10, 2007
This is hands down the best Oktoberfest I ever remember having. Aroma caramel and malt, but not very strong. Pour was a nice light brown with a decent one finger head. The taste was more hearty than most Oktoberfests. Strong malt character with barely any hops. Niceley carbonated and decent lingering aftertaste of roastiness. Great!
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 MrBunn (2006) - Western, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 1, 2007
Bottle at Pirates/Cardinals baseball game. Scribbled notes are tough to read. Fairly brown color (old penny copper) with a small head. Aromas are sweet and mild. Flavor is pretty malty with a little bit of a hops boost. Not sure why they are serving Oktoberfest at ballgames in July, but it was nice.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 alexanderj (2830) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - JUN 10, 2007
Poured a clear golden/copper; smallish white head. Aroma was of sweet malt and honey. Flavor was of much the same with some light roastedness. Some decent hop presence. Pretty good for the style.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 brew4fun (208) - West Virginia, USA - APR 8, 2007
12 oz. bottle Pours clear copper, mininimal head, no lacing. Aroma is spicy with definite banana tones. Body is light, typical of a lager. Taste is sweetly spicy, caramel present upfront but balancd by the hop spiciness. Munich malt blends perfectly with Hallertau hops. Classically German. Beatiful label!
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 detroiter (958) - Euphoria, Minnesota, USA - JAN 27, 2007
Lightly hazy copper color, topped with better than an inch of creamy tan foam. Very good head retention and lacing. Honeymalt in the aroma.
Nice blend of sweetness and bitterness in the flavor - sweet toasted malt, some dark honey, and hops that are mildly bitter and spicy.
Very smooth texture, creamy carbonation, and outrageously fresh tasting for a bottled beer.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 DMRz (230) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - DEC 24, 2006
Dark golden color with respectable body. It looks and feels right for the style. Slightly sweet aroma of malt and caramel. Taste has notes of caramel and banana/kiwi from the hops which provide respectable bitterness. Overall, a decent beer that is not the best but certainly not the worst.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 RCL (2025) - Waltham, Massachusetts, USA - DEC 23, 2006
Not a bad beer. Caramel flavor with a crisp hop finish. Just a hint of fruitiness. Nothing special though.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 cheapdark (2809) - Quiptown & Central Valley, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 1, 2006
A label with a nice history on it - I imagine an oompah band playing in the background as I crack the lid on this brown 12 oz bottle. Pours like a darker transparent regular lager. Pretty nice, perhaps sweet aroma. Real beery intial flavor with lots of personality that is beefy like and IPA or stout yet it is not offensively bitter. Some hop linger that lasts for a while on the finish.
