Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Nov 10, 2001 Copper/bronze colour; the palate unfortunately does not live up to the chewy-smelling, aromatically malty nose. argo0 (6231), Washington DC, USA Sep 17, 2003 Clear amber body with medium beige head. Aroma is medium sweet, malty, light caramel/toffee, lighter earthy. Taste is flavorful, caramel/toffee earthy. Medium body. Definitely one of the better Oktoberfest beers i've had. hopscotch (4592), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Oct 13, 2006 Bottle... Clear amber lager with a small, wispy, off-white head. Aroma of caramel and earthy, spicy hops. Malty-sweet flavor with good hop crispness. Medium-bodied and sticky with lively carbonation. Finishes sweet, lightly bitter and finally dry. True to style. acrdz (4389), Boulder, Colorado, USA Aug 21, 2007 Okay, so this is my first bad O-fest of the season. I know it’s still summer, and it’s 105 degrees somewhere, but up in the northeast it was cold today so it felt like fall. Plus, it’s always best to try beer fresh, so no point in waiting two months for this stuff to turn to bile. On to the rating - I guess I’d say it tastes and smelled like stewed celery and plaster, the kind you seal up a wall holes with... of course there’s also the super sweet caramel corn as well, meaning this is a steawy, sugary mess. Disappointingly thin, nearly watery on the palate. Might go well with waffles, though. I don’t use the 4s enough so I’m going to give it those. JPDIPSO (4286), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Sep 4, 2005 Lightly hazed bronze color with a small bubbly beige head. Lager aromas, with mild toast and hint of malt liquor. Thin lightly metallic feel. Some caramel and light toast flavors. Not bad just not thick and deep enough. More an amber lager than an full and satisfying oktoberfest. Light nutty linger. Thanks DocLock for the taste. The fact that I had an Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier Märzen earlier tonight does not likely help this one.
