COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our flagship brand! An amber Vienna-style lager beer that is smooth, mellow and full bodied, with delicate hop aroma. Uses two-row barley malt and caramel-roasted malt. Based on founder Tom Pastorius' favorite German bier.

UPDATED: MAY 20, 2007 Draught. Pours golden with a small white head. Aroma is sweet bready malt, maybe with some apple? Flavor is similar, with some pilsner hoppiness noticeable, though not particularly strong. A bit sweet, and lacking almost any pilsner bitterness, but not a bad lager.

The appearance is a clear golden with a white head of short duration. The aroma has some malt and a little hoppish spice. Flavor is light with spice and the finish is crisp and clean.

A good bottled beer that I enjoyed at the source at my friend’s place overlooking majestic downtown Pittsburgh. The aroma was of a "noble hop" character, as it is so eloquently described. Perhaps some subtle notes of pine and earthyness, with light caramel malt. The flavor was slightly sour with a bitter finish. It had some fizzy carbonation, was mostly smooth and not too thick.

From the beer of the month club. 12 oz. Bottle. The beer pours a clear golden yellow with a white head and slick lacing. The aroma is full hop sweet malt and earth. The taste is smooth and malty with a light body and crisp, clean finish. Very drinkable and clean pilsner.

Clear pale with a small white head. The aroma is grassy hops, honey and bread. The flavor is grainy, lots of honey sweetness, light lemon and herbal. Medium/light body with moderate carbonation. Nice.

12 oz bottle, from the brewery. Pours a crystal clear gold colored body under a fizzy white head that faded to a thin covering. Aroma is of very doughy pils malt, a little DMS, and just a touch of hops. The flavor is a little grainy with some prominant corn like DMS. Minimal to no hoppiness, and a dry finish. The mouthfeel is a little loose and limp with moderate fizzy carbonation. This wsn’t great. but I’m not so sure that it’s a Vienna. I suppose it got that classification cause the hopping is pretty low, but there was a little. Alot of parallels with Rolling Rock came to mind with the prominant DMS.

Served mid-amber with a slight haze under a white head that holds as a thick film and laces light. Aroma finds light apple notes to a base of pale malts. Consistent bitter flavor with Hallertau obviously stealing the show, but there’s a nice fruity hint to give it a more friendly character. Very good. Rather a thick lager with a dry finish. Not as malty as a Vienna should be... there may possibly be a big difference between this and the bottled version which others below have observed as having a more malted flavor.
