3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Dogbrick (4531) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - AUG 21, 2006
On draught at Heinz Field. Amber color with a medium thin beige head with decent retention. Cannot comment on lacing as it was a plastic cup. Lightly malty aroma. Medium-bodied and sweet with malt and caramel flavors. There is a touch of hops character too. The finish is mostly sweet but has touches of bitterness here and there. Pretty average all around.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Aurelius (3077) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - AUG 12, 2006
This isn’t as good as the Kaiser Pils, but it was still a good brew. Darkish, medium-heavy hopping. Fair, dry maltiness. Good beer.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 zebracakes (1340) - Washington DC, USA - AUG 9, 2006
Bottle. Pours cloudy gold, white head. Aroma is caramel, malt, oats. Flavor is malt, oats, caramel, sour dough, and little bit spicy. I think that this is a bit better than the Penn Dark because I don’t expect it to have a full body. Nice lighter beer.

The aroma has cereal grains, grassy hops, leaves, and hay. The appearance is copper gold with a small head. The flavor is mildly bitter with plenty of malt. The palate is full. The aftertaste is slightly astringent. Not bad.

Being from pennsylvania i grew up on this stuff.Pours a nice golden color and has a great taste. This was one of the better beers but all the other micro brews have past them up.Penn Brewery is going to have to change and make other beers to keep up.At one time this brewery was light years ahead but has done nothing with making new quality beers. All the other micro brews are passing them up. ?????????

Clear amber appearance with a small head and scant lacing. Caramel malt aroma with some floral notes. Smooth, medium bodied, nicely carbonated mouthfeel. Fairly sweet, toasty malt taste balanced by a modest amount of hops. Slightly metallic aftertaste.

Clear copper to orange color with white head. Aroma of malt and a bit of noble hops. Nice malt flavor and I detect a grapefruit note as well both sweet and sour. Very nice Pilsner.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 hopscotch (7288) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JUL 3, 2006
Bottle... Clear, light amber lager with a large, rocky, off-white head. Excellent, creamy retention. Herbal, earthy aroma with a hint of crisp citrus fruit. Malty, earthy flavor. Leans just a fragment on the sweet side of balance. Light carbonation. Malty, bittersweet finish. Not really brewed to style, but I see Ratebeer has this one categorized as a Vienna. I agree.
