COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our flagship brand! An amber Vienna-style lager beer that is smooth, mellow and full bodied, with delicate hop aroma. Uses two-row barley malt and caramel-roasted malt. Based on founder Tom Pastorius' favorite German bier.

A good pilsner beer, better than those american standard beers which they call pilsners, nice and crisp, slightly hoppy...Iím a bigger fan of the darker beers, but this is a decent pilsner.

The funny thing about this beer is that it is not a pilsner, but a German lager. It should not be classified as this style. As far as German lagers go, it has some nice qualities. Itís fresh, crisp with a medium malt taste. The nose is very light at best.

A very good beer from the penn brewery...just dark enough...but very smooth. Good for any time of the year.

Penn Pilsner is really not a bad beer at all. On a par with Sam Adams Boston Lager. Itís worth $20ish per case; something you can give to your friends at a party without feeling like a complete goof. Certainly the best beer you can get at PNC Park, whilst rooting for our pathetic Buccos.

UPDATED: SEP 19, 2005 Update: A good sample of this reveals some very good flavors and fine balance. Nothing stands out particularly, but it remains a fine spicy pilsner with a rich palate. Old: Not how I remember it. This one is metallic and rather unappealing. Some nice aroma and pleasant apple throughout with hints of butterscotch (but both at restrained levels). Somethingís off--need another sample.

I like it as a summer beer. Smooth taste and good color. One of a few good pilsners that ive had.

Copper colored. 3cm head in a pils glass, nice lacing. Hops and mild malt aromas. Lacking on the malt flavor. Hoppy metallic taste on the finish.
