2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Medium amber color. Small head. Aroma is malty and slightly sweet. A medium bodied pilsner. Darker colored and very malty and hoppy for a pilsner. Perhaps it supposed to be a cross between a Pilsner and an amber? Malts are nutty and slightly sweet. Hops are citrusy. Touch of orangish flavor in the taste. I’m not sure what this beer is supposed to be, it not a pilsner and not an amber or Vienna. Its somewhere between the two and gets sort of lost somewhere along the way. Its drinkable but lacks any sort of identity. Mouthfeel is round. Finish is dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

An outstanding beer. Kudos to the brewers on this one. Only negative is a slight aftertaste, but it is not significant. A very good beer.

A nice tasting and looking beer. Poured with a mild fluffy head similar to a microbrewed pilsner. Much more flavorful than your typical mass produced pilsner. Clear dark golden color makes you wanting to try a taste. It doesn't disappoint. Not overly complex, but very tasty nontheless.

Malty - sweet and malty, medium bodied and malty. Finish was sweet and malty, with a little hops. Could've used some hops in this - it needs to be crisper and have a cleaner finish. That's not to say it's not drinkable though, it would be a fine "Lawn-Mowin'Beer".

Good pilsner, but flavor a bit thinner than I'm used to. The malt tastes a bit too roasted, or maybe not enough hops?

UPDATED: MAR 25, 2007 The Pittsburgh stuff is much better. More of the good stuff. Style Dortmunder Export. (Brewed by Frederick Brewing Company) This beer is darker (full gold) than a typical pils. The beer starts malty and finishes mainly malty with a touch of spicy hops. I find this beer to lack two key elements that I like in a pils, 1. dryness 2. A good dose of hops.

My first encounter with a "good" beer i.e. micro brew...remember being impressed with taste and the fact that it was a Pittsburgh Beer not from PBC.

In my limited experience, this rivals the almighty Yuengling Traditional Lager as the best PA brew. Pale color. Lively carbonation. Not as dry as most pilsners but that’s a good thing in this case as the sweetness comes from some very pleasant apple notes and is well balanced by hops in the finish.

A good pilsner beer, better than those american standard beers which they call pilsners, nice and crisp, slightly hoppy...I’m a bigger fan of the darker beers, but this is a decent pilsner.

The funny thing about this beer is that it is not a pilsner, but a German lager. It should not be classified as this style. As far as German lagers go, it has some nice qualities. It’s fresh, crisp with a medium malt taste. The nose is very light at best.
