The_Beer_God (2859), Newport News, Virginia, USA Mar 1, 2008 Bottle. Amber bodied. Small white head. Nose is grainy, grassy, and lemony with floral hops and hints of tea leaves. Taste is biscuity malts, grassy hops, hint of honey, light lemon yeast and grains. Not too bad! Body is medium with a moderate carbonation feel. The finish is more of the biscuit notes, soft lemon and honey, grassy hops, flowers and grains.
Immy (1588), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Sep 27, 2008 12 oz bottle from LooseCannon. Clear dark gold with a loose, foamy head. Nice floral nose, a bit of caramel and earth. Dry malty flavors, fairly bitter, floral and a touch of grain. Nice, dry, leafy finish, a touch of white pepper and grass. Spotty lace. A pretty damn good session beer that seems underrated. Interesing that it seems to have some kolsch-like qualities. None of the butter or butterscotch notes others have experienced. emacgee (1136), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Sep 26, 2008 Pours a copper yellow with a one finger creamy white head. The nose is sweet, has some corn, malty, grassy, overly sweet. The flavor is sweet, corny, lightly bitter, diacetyl, strange off flavor, cardboard. The palate is crisp and lightly bitter. Bockyhorsey (2033), Mesa, Arizona, USA Sep 24, 2008 Bottle from Summer SS 08. Somewhat skunky and grain aromas of tyicical beer. Yellow body with white head. Grainy flavor with a moderate bitterness. Would make a good beer with chicken wings pairing I’m thinking. Thanks Alan Onslow (20), , Michigan, USA Sep 20, 2008 Light amber color. Pours with a thin head that leaves slight lacing. Weak aroma - mostly grain. Thin body. Taste is well balanced, some hops in the finish. Not a bad brew at all and very quaffable, but not exceptional. TURDFERGUSON (1153), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA Sep 4, 2008 Pours golden with minimal head, lace, carbonation. Does not smell very good, slightly buttery with a lot grains and not much pleasantness. Taste is buttery, skunky and mildly grainy. Pretty poor showing here. Not sure if I’ll try the others in the Penn series after experiencing this.
