COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A compelling argument for a bigger stocking! It’s the last of Penn Brewery’s Small Batch Brews for 2007. Packaged in a twenty-five ounce bottle with a decorative foil neck and festive velvet embroidered bag, it’s one more present to look forward to this time of year.
At this joyous time of year, do not settle for ordinary beer. You’ve been good. Get what you deserve. Don’t settle for less than the Brewer’s Reserve

Dark mahogany pour under a tan head that coats the glass as it dissipates. It has a light aroma of sweet malt. there is more to the flavor than the aroma let on.Sweet malt, nice nutty sweetness, good full body too. Worth trying if you like Doppelbocks.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown body under a small fizzy beige head that faded to a thin covering. The nose is strongly malty with a heavy caramel and munich malt sweetness. Just a light hint at the 8% alcohol this is packing. The flavor is rather well lagered and smooth with a heavy sweet maltiness. A little bit of an alcoholic kick on the back end. This is surprisingly good actually, plenty of body and not too overly sweet. A nice light, almost roasty note throughout. Full bodied and slightly clingy with soft fizzy carbonation. Pretty nice surprise with this one, these guys do create some nice lagers.

Bottle. Pours a deep amber red, almost brown. Aroma is strong malt sweetness, no hop presence. Taste is smooth, light, not overpowering. Really drinkable. Not a bad beer.

Really dark deep aggressive malt backbone. Syrupy sweetness and some faint banana/clove funk. Really drinkable for a 9% beverage.

Bottle from Wegmans. Pours dark brown with red around the edges, some light coming through. The aroma has big caramel, toffee, some chocolate, very malty. The taste has a caramel blast that is simple and a bit cloying. OK

22oz bottle in a stem glass. Pours dark brown with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of caramel and toffee/nutty malts, light notes of chocolate, and a little bitterness. Flavor the same. Average texture. Decent but nothing really stands out.

22 oz. Bottle. Not much different than the regular version other than a bit more honey and caramel flavor with a touch of bubblegum. The low point was almost no head on a vigorous pour. Otherwise, solid on all accounts.
