COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Authentic wheat beer, brewed in the Southern German tradition, won the Silver Medal in 1997 and the Gold Medal at the 2000 in GABF.. Penn Weizen is top-fermented, cask-conditioned, and very effervescent with a slight hint of tangy clove flavor.

12 ounce bottle in weizen glass. Very cloudy dark orange with thick dense head. Aroma of lemon, clove, banana. Very Bavarian flavor of banana and wheat grassy tang with slightly tart finish. Blindfolded, I would have thought this came from Germany. Slight throaty bitterness in the aftertaste is the only thing that detracts from this otherwise excellent hefe.

hazy gold, pours with a big frothy white head, light bitter clove aroma, flavor contains a touch of banana sweetness, light bitterness, mostly flavorless, too filtered?

Poured a hazy golden amber color with a thin white head. There was wild yeast leather notes in the aroma with a mild tartness. Wheaty aroma as well. The flavor was tart and leathery, as well as wheaty. Medium bodied. Not bad for and infected beer.

Bottle poured from a Penn variety pack. I was pretty disappointed with this one, since I love the wheats and also like the Penns. Best way to describe it is to think of a good German wheat and imagine everything being a little less.

Tap at Brazen Head. Deep yellow gold beer, white head. Lovely aroma with loads of banana and light wheaty spice. A bit of lemony citrus as well. Nice creamy palate. Full-bodied with loads of wheaty character. Very fruity with a soft cloviness on the back. Another quality brew from Penn.

Really good Hefe by Penn. Measures up with some of the best. More balanced than most attempts. Really refreshing on a summer evening.

Pours with a fairly thick, quickly shrinking head with little lace. Esters, bit of yeast and wheat in the aroma, tastes a bit of smoky clove especially in the finish, yeast, honey. Quite sweet for a weizen, not unpleasant. Smooth but fairly heavy body with high carbonation, making it not as lawnmower-y as some American hefes. Not bad, but carries the same steely profile as Penn’s other products.
