I actually really like this beer, the best brew from Penn IMO. Really good for an American version of the German Hefe. Though DO NOT drop or shake a bottle of this brew --EVER, it will be ruined permanently. Aroma: Clove, banana, white bread rises immediately. Appearance: Cloudy, cloudy, cloudy with yeast streaks seen as the bottle empties. Good to see a Hefe that is cloudy --AS THEY SHOULD BE! Flavor: The real kicker here, the banana and clove really dominate the palate, can be extremely refreshing when new. Palate: Maybe a bit too much carbonation, as the reason for the "Do not shake" warning I gave. Overall: The best Penn brew and one of the best American Hefe. If you can get this on tap at the brewpub or wherever, it will be much, much better. A good one.

330 mL into a weizen. Nice cloudy gold pour with a decent fluffy white head that dissipates quickly and leaves little lacing. Nice yeast aroma with cloves, cinnamon, and a little bubblegum. Taste is smooth, creamy, with faint spice. Not much citrus or banana here. Very crisp finish. Not bad but definitely not Franziskaner.

Bottle with compliments of CheapDark, Thanks Dennis. Pours a damn cloudy yellow with a medium white head. Aroma is very interesting for this style as it seems to be dominated by a roasty malt character, besides that there is a metallic copper aroma and some very nice citrus notes in the background. My initial reaction was mmmmm delicious, but after a few sips it fails to excite too much. Flavors are dominated by a yeastiness and a (once again nice roasty character) It’s got a great citrus flavor that seems to be the major anchor to the hefe style. The spiciness is very subdued and the banana while present is also in the background. I must hand it to this one; they’ve done something original with the style, certainly enjoyable. I can’t say I wouldn’t buy this again, but perhaps not on a regular basis.

12 oz. Nearly opaque orange-golden with a small, but long-lived creamy head. Nose has pleasant proportions of spicy banana, wheat, and a faint apple-lemon mix. Flavor is less sweet than aroma indicates, with the wheat and hops really playing their part vs. the spicy yeast in this one, especially at the finish. Medium body is fairly smooth and lightly acidic-tingly. Spots of sudsy lace left behind. Pleasant surprise.

My first from this brewer. Decent label. Hazy dark gold pour. Light wheat malt aroma. Dry toasty wheat taste. A pretty substantial hefeweizen - very nice.

Overall Impression: Liked this one a lot, for it’s style. Really quite a good American Hefeweizen.

Bottle 355 ml
Appearance: citric hazed golden look with bit of amber. Medium mid light dense top. Average appearance.3-.
Nose: citric wheat aroma, feel of banana with clove on top.7-
Flavor/Palate : Medium bodied with thinner sides. Proper Hefe we got here. Good wheat character, bready with citric banana –clove combo. Quiet good.13+/20

Taste 2/9 Bottle. Looks: Cloudy yellow gold with a thin layer of white bubbles. Aroma: Orange peel and clove. Taste: Tangy orange with a dry clove and hop spice finish. Very simple and clean. Low on the wheat. A little metallic and medicinal.
