COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Authentic wheat beer, brewed in the Southern German tradition, won the Silver Medal in 1997 and the Gold Medal at the 2000 in GABF.. Penn Weizen is top-fermented, cask-conditioned, and very effervescent with a slight hint of tangy clove flavor.

Cloudy, golden pour from the bottle. Nice, thick head. Not as fruity as other hefeweizens I’ve tried. More yeast and wheat in the flavor. Lots of wheat, actually. Fruit notes: orange mainly, cloves, small spicy qualities. Good mouthfeel, a little heavier than I expected. I was satisfied.

Golden body with a light white head. Yeast and wheat dominate the aroma. Wheaty taste along with a light citrus accent on a malty backbone. Smooth ending.

A fairly pleasant surprise. While not the best wheat I’ve ever had, it poured nice, had a good taste (banana and all), and was worth the buy.

UPDATED: AUG 22, 2006 I picked up some of this when I was in West Virginia and was trying to find something different to try... Cloudy; deep golden color - almost orange. Generous amount of carbonation and a foamy white head. Aroma is banana, clove, and some floral undertones. Nicely balanced banana and clove flavor. A bit sweeter than other German-style hefeweizens. Slightly dry finish with more of the yeast flavor coming through. Good mouthfeel. I found this hefe very enjoyable and a pleasure to drink. This was my first beer from Pennsylvania Brewing Company and after having it, I am eager to try other beers from the brewery. 12 oz bottle; $7.99/6-pack.

most likely my least favorite beer of all time. it has a very odd smell, almost undescribable its appearance is ok but not as dense a head as i typically look for. the big problem with this beer is the flavor. there is alot of flavor but it doesnt taste like beer. its like and extremely spicy ginger snap, almost reminds me of a christmas beer, only without everything good about a christmas beer. def not a fan

Cloudy, bright gold appearance with a large white head that faded quickly. Strange aroma; reminded me of the vinyl/plastic that they make inflatable toys with. Taste is wheaty, spicy, tart, a hint of lemon, and some some sour notes as it finishes. Metallic aftertaste.
