Tap. I love this beer. Very refreshing brew. Poured a milky off-orange cloudy appearance. Standard head. Aroma was of oranges, bananas, nutmeg, wheat and hops. Smelled like my mom’s banana nut bread. Very mild on the palate. Great aftertaste. I was leary of the slice of orange or lemon the barkeep loves to slam on the edge of the glass. Oh well. Still one of my favorite summertime beers.

Milky bright lemon. Big cloud of stark white bubbles builds up quickly. Stays pretty bubbly with a moderate creamy hazing. Slowly creeps down to an always present thick layer of foam. Not much in the lacing though, just a few spots is all. Aroma is two parts lemon bubble gum, one part banana, one part yeasty spice, and dashed with medium leveled clove. Great mild and firm flavors with a nice banana display over light wheat and sweet malts. Lemon wedges play arcoss the middle. Yeasty grabs picks up from there but maintains a nice mild tone as it sifts off the finish with touches of clove and a backwash of banana. Stays a bit spicy for a stint in a returning burst very late. Feel is close to medium with a few lighter areas in the front. Stays mild yet hearty with a smoother then average carbonation for a hefe. Which I didn’t mind one bit. I tend to like a lesser volume of zip to my hefes. And since its more to my liking in that regards it really goes down without much effort. That: plus the flavors are well balanced and milding. This is one hefe I could drink a few of.

Bottle: Whitish yellow, murky, sudsy white head, strong carbonation, spotty lacing.   Bready nose, soft clove & banana.   Smells authentic enough.   Yeasty/bready flavor, subtle clove, not much banana.   Average body and mouthfeel.   Not as burpy as many German examples.   Clean finish, but just a tad light.   Excellent American example tho.   Thanks Bill!

I’ve done the draft and I’ve done the bottle. I fully enjoyed both.
Full on traditional Bavarian styling… true Bavarian yeast characteristics… big fruity buttery banana and healthy clove submissions, Hints of citrus zests…tangerine and lemon. Pours a cloudy golden orange sunrise for the body and a fat cat fluffy white snowdrift of a head. I am totally impressed with this beer. One of the best American attempts at an authentic Weiss beer, Ever!

Banana, clove blah, blah, blah. Screw it. This shit is wonderful, and it’s got a good flavor. Very German tasting, if you know your German Weizens. I had it on tap at the brewery in Pittsburgh, and i’ll be damned if I ever drink a better Hefeweizen. Perfect. Flawless beer. Went great with weisswurst, and the Pittsburgh Steelers Polka.

From the bottle this pours a dull orange, cloudy with a tall small-bubbled white head. Citrus and spice aroma with wheat and yeastiness. Taste comes through with a crisp citrus bit up front, followed by a yeasty eastery spice finish. Nice sweetness throughout finished off by a crisp finish. Nice banana esters keep it in the refreshing german style.
